Clearly it's not that obvious if we go by the replies and quotes. What OP said wouldn't have warranted the level of response it got. We'd be discussing the levels men go to affirm themselves instead of if height is even a marker for masculinity (which it is.)
We're not. If the point is to move on from binary gender expression we need to point out how it shows up in our lives so we can move in a different direction. We're disagreeing on semantics because folks don't understand that everyone affirms their gender, even in negative ways.
It's not but for people like buddy it often is. I don't agree with it. Height shouldn't be a gendered binary marker but it is (women would talk themselves out of shoes because it would make them taller than their S/O when I sold shoes) and stuff like this happens when it effectively is.
White Heteronormativity is essentially what patriarchy is built off of. A lot of folks' dating standards are built from Patriarchy.
The different experiences are why I think this conversation has legs. Personal anecdotes are hard to let go. I'm 6'2 and I was seeing the signs of women shooting me bail in situations where they wouldn't normally go for me if I wasn't as tall as I was. So I could imagine the other side of that.
They don't trust their customers with their i.p. as if a niche audience is really gonna transform perception of the core product. Only time I've seen the negatives from modding is modders losing touch with reality to actual game dev lol.
The number of irl conversations and dating app profiles I saw when I was on them would say otherwise. It don't come from no where. At the very least it's overrepresented to the point where you don't need to get elective surgery over it lol.
Reopened my BlueSky today for the first time in a while. I want to support the app but I’m just drained of the internet lacking a safe space for nuanced thought. I’ve watched this app tear down and shun people for takes that were fairly mild and that sucks. A space simply can’t grow that way.
Even for stuff that's meant for actual debate or a greater conversation folks don't know how to disagree without dumping on somebody or making a spectacle out of it.

Affirmation isn't just about awareness but just feeling like more of a man or woman based on what you (and society) considers fem or masc. I'm sure he's not questioning his identity but wanting to feel more secure in it and himself. That's all that's being said about this situation.
Right he wasn't confident in his looks and looked for another masc coded means of increasing said confidence. For cis folks, gender affirming care is less about what already you identify as, but being able to express it to the extent you feel is necessary for you. Your definition is too strict.
A lot of people's ego is tied into their gender expression they aren't mutually exclusive. We see this all the time, especially with men. I don't see how we're not connecting the dots here but can in non-surgical situations.

The fact that some people believe that cis-gendered folks don't get gender affirming care or surgery is disappointing. Trans folks point out that cis-gendered folks do it too because gender dysmorphia isn't unique to trans people, only the circumstances of the gender dysmorphia.
I know it’s jokes for a lot of folks, but have any of y’all making them actually talked to short men who have had social (romantic) issues or adversities because of their height? I feel like the space not being held that should be fr because the jokes are easy.
I think that's what's being missed here and it's one of those situations where I think this website isn't as Progressive as it thinks it is.
Overt, constant fan service. I really want to understand why it's so pervasive in the industry. It's so unnecessary and distracts from what is often a great storyline and otherwise great execution of animation.

I don't think she's a boogeyman but I think she's very opportunistic in how she moves and does any type of third-party work a disservice in the long term. Like I don't think she's taking votes away but I do think that for any progressive leftist movement she's a distraction.
Empathy is something we all have to learn. Some start to learn at age 6, some at 36. It's not something we can master, it's something we should choose to learn more each day.
All this to say lol, for the sake of good faith, everyone should be able to take critiques of women's roles in patriarchy on the chin. Everyone plays a part in upholding the system even if it clearly skews in men's direction. We should be able to carve out space for more granular conversations.
It's frustrating to attempt to have varied conversations on here only for people stonewall you because they feel like they HAVE to be defensive and assume bad faith unnecessarily. In ways, it's exactly what men do when we get defensive when called out for our misogynistic behavior.
So I'm not saying "Women are the reason men suffer" or anything like that, but conversations about women's place in patriarchy get rebuffed by women (and some men) in an understandable show of solidarity that limits the kinds of illuminating conversation we can have on here.
This is not to say that men don't play a large part of our own victimization under patriarchy (we do) but as with other systems of oppression, everyone's involved, even the marginalized. Your marginalization doesn't remove your ability to be an agent of a system and often, is not an active choice.
While I earnestly believe men own a lion's share of the harms done by patriarchy, I do see women downplay their part in it when more nuanced topics come up, especially where men are victims of patriarchy. Bioessentialism, traditionalism, etc. will come into play without a shred of awareness.

I think you may have misread what he was getting at there because he was talking about loneliness in the case of romantic relationships. Not trying to be disrespectful or have a negative conversation here I think it's worth actually having.
I don't see where men perpetuate the short equals unlovable thing. I've seen dudes getting on each other for being short but never in the context of relationships. A lot of that feedback is mostly from women working from a patriarchal view of what they want from a man as you laid out.
That's just bioessentialism justifying dating culture.

Yeah but that understanding is key to shaping our critiques of things. We should not excuse our inability to understand all of the things because it just leaves our analysis lacking and we end up blaming systemic issues on individuals instead of just critiquing an individuals actions.
People are just living their lives. Our society is built to not keep community so it keeps us distracted and our attention on whatever we got going on in our immediate situations rather than fostering the connections that we have.
This just speaks to how the liberal apparatus works. Instead of a very natural building of liberal voices they want to take control of them and have them speak a certain message. A message they probably would have had on their own because you have to consider who they didn't reach out to.

It's not about what the moral stance is it's understanding why people make decisions and being empathetic towards that nothing more.
I feel like people want reciprocation but want it in such a transactional way that defeats the purpose of the reciprocation if that makes sense?
What makes it sadder is that it seems like most of the people approached didn't care for how the contract looked and just opted out which speaks to a certain type of integrity. It feels like rather than reading the article they're just mad that somebody outted their grift.
Something I've noticed non-religious or anti-religious folks do when discussing religion is do this thing where every believer has to follow their religious text to a T. Not only is that not true of any religion but it also reveals a sort of animosity that betrays their arguments against religion.
You're not wrong but that won't go away until the stigma of sexuality goes away. It's easy to take the moral stance on the outside but we're no where near a point in history where that moral stance can be fully taken by those more closely involved.
Cars are probably one of the last markets where there's a visible and mechanical difference between is various products. Now granted, it's still a nasty market but at the very least you can genuinely like a brand or a model because it aligns with what you want in a vehicle.

I've been on both sides of the leftist in-fighting equation and I'm noticing more and more that people just are just so conflict adverse to the point that they're not willing to actually discuss things and so often what looks like infighting is just conflict resolution.
