My home town is experiencing a glacial outburst flood. A branch of the Mendenhall glacier melted & left an empty valley. The only outlet is blocked by the glacier’s remaining ice. It fills with water all summer and once full the glacier floats up a tiny bit and the water all squirts out the bottom.
Thanks to the wonders of modern technology; I have access to live cameras across miles of rugged Alaskan terrain from glaciers to rivers in the palm of my hand (& you do too! youtube.com/watch?adw9frm-YRQ) and can use them to confirm that it is, in fact, still raining in Juneau, Alaska. #akwx
