I mean, I put my name on it and am proud to do so, but that doesn't mean that I'm also not going to judge someone skeptical about signing it. Like I said before, that post that I quote-reskeeted just further shows why it's valid for some people to be skeptical about putting their name on public docs
Minnesota Fan π΅πΈπ (@minnesotatheist.bsky.social) reply parent
I mean, I get that it's for a good cause (to protest against the rampant transphobia that is prevalent in Minnesota's Democratic Party Feminist Caucus), but I understand if some people are hesitant to put their name on something so public. That last post is further proof of why people would be.
Minnesota Fan π΅πΈπ (@minnesotatheist.bsky.social)
I'm glad that it's only in Minnesota, but the fact that MN is now known as having the most trans people living here than any other state makes us a top target for the Trump administration. Anyone asking to put your name on anything in this state is completely forgetting who's in charge of the USA.

My mom's 80-year-old mother had the biggest crush on him when my mom was growing up. She adored him as well.

Also, in case you were unaware, a recent report from the UCLA School of Law Williams Institute showed that MN has the most transgender people living there than any other state in the US. Which makes it even more urgent that the DFL distances itself from transphobes. www.mprnews.org/episode/2025...

It got one of my coworkers to download Twitter and follow CK mainly because of all of this and all of the news agencies making it seem like he's "just a guy who calmly debates people". Like, their actions are causing a whole group of people to get indoctrinated in far-right politics.
Minnesota Fan π΅πΈπ (@minnesotatheist.bsky.social) reply parent
Mind you, she was also able to be convinced to invest in cryptocurrency by a different coworker because according to him, "crypto is almost guaranteed to double in a couple of years", so there's that as well.

To be fair, even the UK's government is hell-bent on emulating people 95% of the population has never heard of as well. Why else would the Liberal Party leader be moving so far right? The entirety of the UK has become terrible. I feel sorry for the minorities stuck living there.

I have a coworker who said that she downloaded Twitter and made a new account just to follow Charlie Kirk's account and find out the kind of person he really is because she "has no idea who he was" and "seemed like a guy who just calmly debates people."
Minnesota Fan π΅πΈπ (@minnesotatheist.bsky.social) reply parent
Really. It could be anything at this point. But the fact that so many conservative "journalists" are reversing course really helps to show that the shooter was one of their own who disagreed with Kirk on one too many key issues.
Minnesota Fan π΅πΈπ (@minnesotatheist.bsky.social) reply parent
His death is really showing the more online people just how unpopular Charlie Kirk really was and how unpopular the conservative podcasters really are, especially regarding the general public. The fact that the vast majority of people had no idea who Kirk was when he died gives me some hope.
Minnesota Fan π΅πΈπ (@minnesotatheist.bsky.social) reply parent
I was right. He did call it fake for about a day, but then immediately reversed course. It could be that the killer shot him mainly because he flip-flopped so much on that issue alone. www.yahoo.com/news/charlie...
Minnesota Fan π΅πΈπ (@minnesotatheist.bsky.social) reply parent
Didn't Charlie Kirk at one point call the Epstein Files fake just because daddy Trump did? Because I seem to remember a lot of people piling up on him that he flipped so much on that issue. It could be that as well. It could be someone who didn't like that he did that as well.
Minnesota Fan π΅πΈπ (@minnesotatheist.bsky.social) reply parent
I always believed that it was a conservative who shot him who hated that he stopped pushing for the release of the Epstein Files. If all that's true, I might be right on that. Just a mentally challenged Kirk fan who disagreed with one too many of his key issues.
Minnesota Fan π΅πΈπ (@minnesotatheist.bsky.social) reply parent
I also would like to know because I can't find anything about it from just a cursory Google search.
Minnesota Fan π΅πΈπ (@minnesotatheist.bsky.social) reply parent
So it would make sense that the vast majority of the US population wouldn't have any idea who he is, since at most 2.5% of the US's total population actually follows him.
Minnesota Fan π΅πΈπ (@minnesotatheist.bsky.social)
People act like having 9 million followers on a social media site is that big of an accomplishment, and while it is to a point, we have to remember that that's only about 3% of the US's total population. And that ignores the fact that some of his fans are either bots or live outside of the US.

Those arguments even further solidified his belief to postpone making a statue this year, though he's open to reconsideration if enough people speak out in favor of the statue that was in the Minnesota state Capitol building last year.
Minnesota Fan π΅πΈπ (@minnesotatheist.bsky.social) reply parent
That, and the fact that the effort to constantly repair it after conservatives (and probably some liberals as well) constantly damaged the last one, as well as how the last one was constantly falsely attributed to TST.

Like, it got so bad for him that in the last meeting yesterday, he spoke about how he's seriously considering skipping this year and possibly making a statue for the following year, mainly because he's worried about what the fallout to Kirk's death will be, especially regarding his followers.
