Stay safe by understanding what Tsunami threat levels mean. #BC Notification Zones A, B, C & D are under TSUNAMI ADVISORY. Strong currents are likely. Stay away from shore. More info: www.emergencyinfobc.gov.bc.ca/event/tsunam...

And if you want to check if a tsunami has actually been recorded in a given area of the US coast, you can check NOAA gauges. What you're looking for is a squiggle on the graph that doesn't look like either the normal tides or usual noise: tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/stations.html

A rule of thumb for tsunamis is that in open ocean, they move at similar speeds to commercial airliners. If you're ever curious how long it would take for a tsunami to get from one place to another, look up the duration of a similar-length flight.

Expected Tsunami Wave Heights & Times for the #BC #WA #CA #OR Coasts. Tsunami Advisory is in effect meaning strong waves & currents are possible. Waves/currents can drown or injure people who are in the water. Currents at beaches, harbours, marinas, bays, & inlets may be especially dangerous.

The watch has now been upgraded to a tsunami advisory. A tsunami advisory has been issued. There is a possibility of strong localized currents. No significant inundation is expected, but low lying coastal areas and beaches may be at risk. #BCTsunami #BCwx #Russiaearthquake

I've cracked the code of why byelection lineups are so long in Vancouver today. It's not just a turnout question. Compared to the 2017 byelection, the city decreased the number of election workers by EIGHTY PERCENT. From 1,250 in 2017 to 250 this time around. This was a staff recommendation.
