Also if anyone’s wondering, I had autism way before I started getting the MMRV shot every 1.5-2 years or so. Me and the tism and the pox are all besties. We watch Star Trek marathons together.
Despite my weirdness and having gotten the MMRV shot multiple times, I’ve never been able to get a shingles vaccine. So that’s nice. I just have to live with anxiety over this other painful virus that obviously I’m more susceptible to. Anyway herd immunity has had a good run, I guess.
Chickenpox is always mild for me. It’s itchy and uncomfortable, and I get headaches and general soreness. It’s not fun! But it’s usually just disruptive to my routine and or work/school. As I get older though, I do live in fear of shingles.
When I got it at 21 and 23, my job was equally skeptical. One of my supervisors literally said “I didn’t know you had kids,” when I called in. No, I had chickenpox. I didn’t have a kid with chickenpox.
My teenage boyfriend did not really believe me when I said I had chickenpox and couldn’t go out. I told him to come over if he wanted me to prove it and lifted my shirt to show the pox on my stomach through our portrait window.
I’ve had chickenpox 7 times that I can remember. I was that little cohort between the vaccine being approved and becoming standard for kiddos. After I’d gotten chickenpox as a baby, my parents assumed it done until I got It again at 2. Then 5. Then 10. Then 16.
Casual reminder that I cannot maintain the antibodies to chickenpox for more than about 18 months at a time. When I get sick again, I will personally blame RFK.

Lastly you can make lentils in a rice cooker and freeze them. You can also mix lentils into white rice if you want to bulk up some white rice. Tbh lentils mix well into most things.
But the only real “need” imo is onion. Currently working on a tomato, eggplant, carrot, and onion soup for freezing. Again it’s just what I needed to cook before it went bad. Super easy. Carrot ribbon salads are also really good. I like them with a golden sesame dressing.
I make a big pot every two weeks or so and portion it out for individual servings to freeze. This week’s batch has onion, carrot, potato, zucchini, egglant and pepper but I’ve also used broccoli, cabbage, turnips, celery, and leeks. I like to make sure there are a few potatoes and carrots.
I’m very much not a vegetarian but I live with one so no. In fact usually I’m eating only one meal that has meat and the rest is fruit and veg. For some easy meal prep recipes? I really do recommend Japanese curry. It’s kind of idiot-proof and you can use kinda whatever’s on sale.
This also isn’t a callout of anyone in particular but it strikes me that Andor is the new Handmaid’s Tale. I think it’s good to have media that discusses the horrors of fascism and how authoritarian repression is often banal. But besties this is sci-fi.
