Possibly the most faithful adaptation of "The Invisible Man" was a six-part BBC Classic Serials production shown in 1984. It's well worth a look.

King Kong, 1976. I've been wanting to see this for long time, 70s version of the classic. I really enjoyed it, 40 years on in colour was a good enough reason to attempt a new version but they did avoid dinosaurs! The last great version of the tale attempted with practical effects.
