i lnow why/how it was coined but from a non meta perspective the term reads negatively. that part has nothing to do with some sinister plot to change its meaning - a lot of ppl just read it that way. when someone tells me i’m making them feel bad i try to stop. interpretation and intent both matter
i just don’t understand why you would fight ppl on what they tell you xyz means to them. like why not just respect that this is how ppl interpret it and act accordingly? i don’t think your intention is to make ppl feel bad, but if it does then you can’t really tell them they’re wrong for it
and even the decision that they’d ‘like’ to medically transition is always a moving target, including degrees or different characteristics of transition. it’s invalidating to other ppl who are on a journey that could very well lead to medical transition down the road
so you’re not just calling transgender ppl cissexual (which itself is marginalizing and disrespectful) you’re also calling ppl who would like to medically transition but can’t, lesser than until they change that
call yourself transsexual; do not call transgender ppl cissexual. it’s that easy this is not out of insecurity, it’s because the decision to medically transition is incredibly complex and specific to each person - including safety and support *and* ability to deal without those things
