I was never a participant in any kind of big LAN party but have incredibly fond memories of hot-seating some games in the early 90s and my best friend had two PCs he would LAN together and we would play hours of Doom and then later Outlaws and Medal of Honor/COD. Life in early 2000s ended that.
I enjoyed watching them with my grandson who is a massive Sonic fan, 10 years old, and a bit of an artist.
I did read I Am Legend in the 70s and I think I remember liking it.

Horror and monster movies have always been popular, moreso I suppose as drive-in viewing than in theatre. I think the first big horror event I remember personally was all the furor over The Excorcist when it came out in 1973--the graphic scenes, the rating, should kids see it, etc.
