I always forget the efficiency of the valet scene, which at first seems to be just to signal that Bond is "one of the good guys who hates snobs" (despite the Bond franchise being nothing BUT a snob fantasy) but then doubles as his way to get into the club's security office:

In another bit of bad timing for Disney today, funny that this is happening just as Disney is trying to get this exact same demographic to forget that Daft Punk exists as a new NIN-scored TRON movie is about to flop into theaters.

The entire “Americans want pro corporate liberal centrism” project has failed, and an entire industry that runs on pretending otherwise is panicking. It isn’t just that they don’t want to move the party to the left; they don’t understand HOW to. They’ve literally never thought about it.

To be clear: this entire “we’ve got to run more pro-lifers” insanity is because literally a week ago polling showed that Democrats would prefer politicians like AOC and Mamdani over Jefferies and Schumer by, let me emphasize this, a 20 point fucking margin. www.politico.com/news/2025/09...

Either this is just spectacularly bad timing or an attempt to distract from the bad press piling up everywhere else, though funny that this story (not that there’s a story even hinted at in any of these trailers) being continued in theaters is just another reason for folks to cancel Disney+

Yeah, that articulates a basic problem I had with that movie - despite everything done to cartoon everything else up, it still always seemed like a Beatty vanity project because he didn't even *try* to look like such an iconic character, all while everyone else is swimming in foam rubber.

So many Hollywood dipshits used to get distracted by the novelty of the aesthetics of comics that they forgot to make a good movie - at least Tim Burton (who never read comics, either) was at least smart enough to hire Anton Furst to make sure 1989 Batman stood on its own.
Bill Mudron (@mudron.bsky.social) reply parent
While I appreciate what Beatty was going for, this is a perfect example of someone who doesn't read comics thinking they're going to blow everyone's minds by making a movie (supposedly) look like a comic book when all they end up with is a stupid-looking movie (see also Joel Schumacher + Batman)
Bill Mudron (@mudron.bsky.social)
Gee, I can't imagine why a Walt Disney-branded movie about Dick Tracy that looked like a community theater stageplay and starring a middle-aged guy no one under 40 cared about didn't do well at the box office in the summer in between Batman and Terminator 2

Anyway, it’s entirely possible that having the ghosts of One-Eyed Willy and his crew pop up could’ve made for a lesser story since part of the movie’s charm is the relatively mundane nature of the kids’ lives, and the movie’s budget would’ve have to’ve been tripled to make it look good, BUT STILL

I’ve been working on this puzzle for the past few nights, and every attempt gets fucked up at some point where you can’t see where you’re laying pipe (haha) because the pipe itself is so big and blocking your view, on top it being tricky to get the pipe to fit how you want it.
Bill Mudron (@mudron.bsky.social)
I put down Silksong to tackle the Indiana Jones DLC before Hades II hits Wednesday night, and I got stuck at a gladiator statue puzzle that’s very cool in concept but awful in execution because it’s essentially Pipe Dreams but with giant pipe pieces that are difficult to lay down accurately:
