My initial reaction was from a couple things on the bullet casings, like the "Bella Ciao" language, he was leftish, but I have become convinced after reading things like this that this guy was a "Groyper" and on the far right.

Trump is engaged in a kind of authoritarian grooming to normalize the idea of militarized federal forces in the streets of American cities. He wants enough pushback that he gets to display dominance, but not so much people are horrified, or he gets handed a decisive defeat in court too early.
The doorbell video taken with him limping is from before the shooting. The video from it afterwards is him going in the opposite direction running. (all of this apparently, because it is doorbell video)
Although I have read many people saying that the shoot is well within what you could expect an average person whose used a gun, and the fact he hit him in the neck likely shows a miss of sorts since he was likely aiming at his head or body

Pretty clear from some of the close up pictures in the stairwell he has what to me looks like the gun stock down his right leg, which in that video is what leg he is limping with.
My guess would be if anything matters right now is that they have an insufficient number of people on the case for the amount of stuff they need to go through to see if they have something, and that is a result of firings and quits.

. . . with glasses, a hat, other changes he may have made, and it seems avoiding looking right at a camera up close maybe is is not easily and quicky identifiable if you see him casually.
Skinny kid in the pictures pretty clearly is the shooter (he appears to have a gun in his pants and video of what appears to be him walking there has him walking with a limp in the leg with the gun). Likely a lot of luck, but if he just was careful about doing anything leaving clues and . . .

It's an "older-model Mauser .30-06 caliber high-powered bolt action rifle." I thought I saw somewhere earlier that it was the type of thing popular with hunters.
All this suggests is that the shooter wants people to believe they're a far-left ideologue. Maybe they are; without more evidence, we don't know. But a far-right "accelerationist" wanting civil war, more hatred, more violence would do the exact same thing.
