That woman could do anything! She was only 5'2" but that didn't stop her from doing unbelievable things. I can't even imagine how much courage it took for her, a freed black woman, to go back into Maryland to help people escape. She led a whole group of Union Soldiers on a raid to free slaves.
I have told my students that black history is American history. It is a totally corny thing to say, but it is so true. Harriet Tubman is a perfect example. I always thought that Harriet Tubman was pretty cool but I never realized what a badass she truly was until a couple of years ago.

Did you know? In 1968, 24 Black men in Pittsburgh revolutionized emergency medicine. The Freedom House Ambulance Service was established to provide emergency medical care to underserved Black neighborhoods—creating the world’s first paramedics.
Some of them were talking about doing this before the inauguration. I don’t know what happened to that plan.
