Iāve a 20 y.o daughter with relatively high social care needs. Virtually all her carers are from outside the UK.
Not all care is via expensive care homes. Not all care is for elderly frail people. Ofc it all still costs; either us paying as individuals paying individually or us paying via taxes. Atrocious that no govt will take this on. Stopping visas while saying nothing about what you will do is š¤Æ
Literally worried about what this means for people like my 20 year old daughter in London. Virtually all her carers are from outside the UK? How can the govt say what they wonāt do, but nothing about what they will do to enhance the social care workforce including Ts & Cs until 2028? š
Exactly!! Saying what you wonāt do but NOTHING about what you will do to on the social care workforce is classic head-in-the-sand behaviour. I despair what this means for my 20 y.o who has high care needs.š
If the womenās cubicle is busy (which it almost always is) I use the (nearly always empty) menās. Just give it a good wipe first. Itās all so ridiculous. Itās just a room with a toilet.

I saw Sebastian (Stuart Murdoch) in a cafe in Glasgow last year. He remembered my sister from primary 1 (he left the school by primary 2). My sister is 56 years old! I think he was then going off to busk.

Yes! I went from Paddington to Newport this week. We had ~ 3 mins to board a mile long train.
Some are really good. The UC portal in particular, the ordering a Px payment certificate is great but not linked (eg to the NHS App). But services like PIP and local govt ones donāt surpass anything.
Whatās the slip?
Theyāre useful for getting ideas and frameworks for things, for asking it to change things into a different tone of voice, for summarisimg a long document, for generating meeting notes, but you always need to check it, all the time.

I saw the play Kyoto at the Soho Place Theatre yesterday. It was fantastic. Themes included seeking agreement in the face of intransigent disagreement, and the language of negotiation. I cried. And I also spoke to Angela Merkel in my rubbish German!
Iām the 1/6 who only uses it for hyper local news and to get local trades people through the local communities.
I got locked into a disabled toilet in Sainsburys (I had to pull the red cord ā¦ fyi nothing happens when you pull that cord). Once free, I then climbed into the passenger seat of a strangerās car. Their dog was intrigued. The bloke perplexed. Howās everyone elseās day going??š«£

I now know 3 āfamous folkā who went on. I think itās harder there than at home.
Applying for drama schoolsā¦ most are done outwith UCASā¦ and most charge a fee just to submit an application. So itās Ā£100s to apply to around half a dozen schoolsā¦ of which youāll be lucky to even get an audition. And most are not funded via student loans. š

I love music, but as someone who is non-speaking, itās like she canāt exist without it. Much of what she listens to has a very specific BPM about it!
My daughter listens to non-stop sped-up Nightcore tracks. We think she gets sensory something or other from it.

Buying (and selling) houses is so hard, and why Iām in the place I got a billion years ago. It was v stressful and lengthy at the time but in the long term so worthwhile, that I maybe wouldāve paid over the valuation (but thatās with hindsight).
This book is on my Christmas wish list!
The 4% difference, is securing a mortgage contingent on that? As otherwise why not go with your original offer if thatās what you felt it was worth at the time?
