The playful vibe of a cartoon short is definitely better I think in the classic style!

As the DM, we agreed as long as the Familiar is not used in combat they have plot armor from combat. As for the wizard, I savor a few choice combatants that come out of the gate swinging for them. I just keep them hidden, far, and few. And if she reads the comments, the hint is cowabunga
