It’s not unusual to see soldiers in German trains, especially at the weekend. Yet with everything that’s going on, and stupidity reigning supreme wherever you look, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of foreboding when sketching this fellow yesterday. Never again is now!!! #urbansketching #peace

Here’s a sketch from Easter Monday. My little niece added my name in tiny writing (twice!) and a weird blue shadow. It’s these additions that make it perfect and turn a simple sketch into a memory that makes my heart sing ♥️. Do you know what I mean? #urbansketching

Absolutely! I threw a tantrum yesterday because I thought this is s&#*, but today, a hundred layers later, it actually seems to come together. Takes so much experience and practise. Keep calm and carry on! 😝

It takes a lot of patience 😅, but makes for very bright colours without getting muddy.
Yes! It’s a lanaquarelle satine, so super smooth. I’ve seen this technique of basically applying one fairly flat layer of paint, let it dry, then put the next one, and it’s quite different to what I usually do. This way there is a kind of depth as if your eye actually sees through all the layers.
Thanks! I’m trying to be looser and quicker and maybe more abstract with my landscapes. I’m quite pleased with this one. I had to get to rehearsal so I had to stop. (Otherwise, who knows, I might have overdone it in the end)…

I am actually trained as a classical singer and have freelanced with many companies and choirs over the years. These days I mostly teach others as it’s a much more reliable, plannable,and less competitive, source of income.So I really enjoy when the odd project comes up and I’m back into singing. ☺️
