Was kind of terrified by some of the sprites in Warcraft Orcs & Humans - there was a strange feeling playing that game in a fake but real feeling setting
This but me. Went to a friends house and we played this and I was terrified, the horrible fake distance to everything. (Shout out to much later playing amnesia with headphones on, on my laptop, under my bunk bed, all the lights off, Christian upbringing - hated it)

Ending of the season… Anne Shirley! Naoko Yamada back at it creating the kind of wistful, melancholic visual language that makes you feel like you’ve been there your whole life but can’t stay. Beautiful
Opening of the season… Shoshimin S2… I don’t know what to write… just look at it
Visuals of the season… MSG Gquuuuuux! Take’s modern character design, complimenting Khara’s obsession with geeky detail was a match made in heaven. Constantly juggling ultra modern with retro throwback, GKwacks was breathless and a reminder that the studio absolutely rocks
Character of the season… Yachiyo! As with the show, she had it all. This culminated in episode 11, Wag Your Tail, but Never Wag a Shift! What an incredibly 24 minutes of character exploration with next to no words. She’s amazing
Anime of the season… Apocalypse Hotel! I laughed, I cried, I contemplated life. It had everything and achieved it all so well. Please let’s look after this special planet… and if we can’t I hope a robot and tanuki can call it home

The Surfer was a curious, strange film. Nicholas Cage brings a delightfully delirious performance to this tale of jealousy, trauma and male toxicity, but can’t quite salvage a slightly muddled experience. Still an interesting watch however.

It’s so so so much fun
I had high expectations going into Sinners and it more than exceeded them. A proper genre film, rarely seen with this budget, fantastic performances, music and visuals. Allegorical storytelling at its finest.

10 years of Sound! Euphonium today. This series means so much to me, with Liz and the Blue Bird instantly becoming one of my favourite films of all time.
Chi / Orb is so good, and so radical, that I understand wanting an adaptation with more of an edge and less faltering because of the fundamental limitations it bowed down to. But don't confuse its lack of ostentatious delivery for thoughtlessness either, because they definitely had a vision
Flow was outstanding. Such a unique presentation using long single take “hand held” camera movements. Not a single word said and yet so much conveyed. Modern Disney and Pixar especially should feel ashamed at what this tiny but amazing team did with a fraction of their budgets.

Saw Gundam GquuuuuuX this weekend. Big issue I have with the film (compilation of the first 4 episodes) is having to wait a few weeks to continue it. Love what Khara did visually with the clash of old school and new, mechs look great in action and intrigued to get to know the new characters more

“What’s it like to die?” Mickey 17 lacks the finesse of Parasite, but more than made up for it with Robert Pattinson’s delightful performance. Heavy handed, sure, but wildly entertaining.

Find your colour and mix it with others. Naoko Yamada’s The Colours Within reminds us that kindness and love can form an intoxicating mix for entertainment in this wild world we live in. Achingly beautiful, quietly comforting and above all hopeful.
Big time agree on that. I’ve always found those small moments/movements so impactful in her works - I always go back to some of the tiny eye movements that happen in Liz which convey so much.
“It's the destination, not the journey” The Brutalist was the definition of an Epic. The American Dream’s rotten foundation for all to see. A masterpiece of film which is dripping with evil throughout whilst simultaneously looking and sounding so sublime.

Incredibly sad to head of David Lynch’s passing. Twin Peaks and Mulholland Drive were cornerstones of TV and Film for me

“There is a dread storm rising…” loved Eggars update on Nosferatu. Gross and seductive. Sound design was 10/10

NegaPosi Angler presented a jaded terminal patient who has gradually bought into his silly found family's bright worldview. Eventually it had to force them to face the premise though, and the bottled-up feelings finally blew up (thx studio NUT for sharing gensatsu crumbs of the emotional highlight)
