I got scolded once, was told curry is just a mix of spices, so yours would be it's own curry. I make a new batch of some spice mix at least once a week. Garam Masala is classic.

I've actually run across pretty reasonably priced prime Tri Tips at our Costco. I like that one could be done in say 3-4 hours instead of 12-15. And nicely sized compared to a big 'ole packer brisket.
