In June of 2019 the Austin city council voted 9-2 to legalize public camping and by May of 2021, 57% of the city voted to ban public camping again. Democrats only want to talk about sympathetic homeless people, Republicans only want to talk about unsympathetic ones and in the end, nothing changes.
