The only thing I liked from that Death of WCW series was the Kevin Sullivan quote about WCW being a “death by a thousand swords”. Everyone remembers the 2-3 big things that killed the company. There are literally hundreds of smaller things that accumulated to those points.

1991 WCW is live action Five Nights At Freddy’s. The most emotionally broken, drug-addled men trying to be what they think children’s mascots are.
90% of creative pitches from wrestlers are “Hey, I just saw the new Marvel movie and we should just do that with me”. But at least most wrestlers want to be the star. Jake wanted to be a tree.
If I’m Tony Khan, I hire Jake Hager just to do negative interviews about me for years and years. Jake made him sound SO much more assertive than 99% of negative AEW stories do. Genuinely good PR for Tony.
It’s about what it sounds like. All the big studios and home video producers set up booths to rub elbows with the video store owners. Most of them brought in stars to sign autographs. Just did a Short recently about Turner accidentally false advertising the wrong Sting at their booth at one.

When I was little, my mom was tight with the local video store owner. Every year, she’d go to the video store owners’ convention and come back w/swag. She’d always give me a Hillbilly Jim autographed 8x10, but it’d be out of gimmick. What kid wants a Hillbilly Jim picture in a polo shirt?!?
