I just rechecked. His name is Alivisatos and he is NOT there, nor is the provost. I apologize for misinforming you. I looked for all seven schools family members have degrees from and thought sure I had seen him. I'm mortified and furious. How can a school as amazing as UChi not support this?
She went for a general Humanities Masters,but took a course with a visiting New Yorker journalist on Mexico and ended up with a PhD in Latin American history, a loving scholar of the Yucatan. I saw UChi as a great opportunity for her, and it was.
Don't laugh: I'm not sure. 2011 or 2012. She went straight on to Georgetown for a PhD, which she received in 2018 and I think took 6-7 years. She loved UChicago. Such a great school!

One thing I miss most about no longer living in NYC are cab rides, talking to the drivers. Had a great ride from Penn Station to Brooklyn on a February visit. Haitian driver, left after the earthquake, great stories about his kids. Hard to imagine having a soul so small you cannot admire him.
