I should mention that many a gangster hid out up here. Famously John Dillinger and his crew got in a shootout with the feds in 1934. There are bullet holes strewn across the building. We dined right by a few.

Hell yeah, San Francisco. Gonna walk around a new to me neighborhood (Viz Valley), hike Muir Woods and take the winding road to Eureka. Gonna be a heck of a day for a “work trip.”
Hopefully someday we’ll do something that long! We’ve done two 4 day loops thus far. 6 years apart with tiny kids the first time that are now 7 and 12 (plus their uncles). That somewhat limited us, but it’s been amazing to see even the 12 year old have a blast.
I’ve only been on proper multi-day overnight paddles twice, but they were a couple of the most memorable trips we’ve ever taken. If you can’t get out into the BWCA at least stay at a cabin at the end of the Gunflint.

They’re definitely all very much distinct places!
I believe by the city’s definition they include both for downtown’s population numbers. Even Stevens Square. Either way downtown needs to be a lot of things to a lot of people. It should have a thriving residential population with amenities tailored to them AND serve as an entertainment district.

Shooting 360s at Cal Poly Humboldt on Saturday. Decided to fly into San Francisco and drive up to Arcata instead of taking a long and expensive connecting flight. Question is do I hang around SF until lunch or head straight up to the Redwoods?
But also I was able to watch 3 quarters of the game. So I guess that’s a win. Also, Tucker Kraft rules.

Just took a tour back during Doors Open Minneapolis. The tour guide, the long time lead at the printing plant, was ominous about its future. Crazy that it would be closing a few months later. Their big rolls of paper were pretty low compared to normal due to tariff hikes.

Oh, definitely. Would be awesome to not have to paint the facade. Our first house over north was stucco and I got insurance money to paint it after the tornado. I was like, nah, and used the money for other repairs.
