Here in the Bay Area, indoor dining was still restricted, so no, not at scale. What is frustrating was that, based on what we now know, distinguishing indoor vs. outdoor gatherings was correct. But back in 2020, it was still an educated guess.

We need to communicate the value of understanding the underlying systems. When I try to explain modeling to laypeople, their questions always jump to individual actions and individual costs/benefits. A sensitivity study can tell you what knob to turn, even if the outcome has some uncertainty.
