Why we need concrete protected bike lanes ⬇️ Surprisingly, this driver was not on her phone. She was not being intentionally aggressive, in fact didn't see me at all. Just an elderly driver who couldn't stay in her lane or find her turn. #sandiego #safestreets #bikesky

NIMBYs play the long game. Today they are protesting the construction of a larger elementary school. Next year they will say their neighborhood cannot accommodate more housing because the school won’t have enough room. Happens all the time.

There needs to be far more difficult testing to get a license. There also needs to be more annual testing (esp. above a certain age). A drivers license isn't a human right, some people flat out shouldn't have them. Whether for aggressive driving, or just medical/age related issues.

drivers love playing this "game" at pedestrian crossings where they won't slow down if you're not crossing but if you are crossing then you've clearly rushed out in front of them and they can kill you now if you're not a permanent pedestrian you won't understand how psychotic many drivers are

Took a really quick jaunt out to the shoreline and the sf bay trail. Decided to test the street-level bike crossing at the gilman exchange and then the separated bike lane that extends a few blocks up gilman, and -- exciting news -- I did not die! Traffic was quiet, and it was not bad at all.

If I was not very cautious about crossing the street, I could've been hit ~4 times because of SUVs/trucks parked on an already red curb, not even daylighting. That is at one intersection next to my house. I've lived in San Diego proper less than a year.

After six years we remain amazed by the mindset of constant improvement in The Netherlands. At Nieuwe Plantage in Delft a slip lane was removed, the road narrowed, safety and priority for pedestrians and cyclists improved, with 60 new trees to be added to help cool in the summer and absorb water.

If only the dumbest people on Earth weren't filling cabinet positions. By far my biggest safety issue when using transit is from cars while getting to and from transit. Defunding transit will do nothing to stop the hit-and-run murders by people driving cars.

Devastating to see life altering injuries yet again in Calgary. That intersection 36 St & 20 Ave NE is miserable to ride. Pathway on SW side (bottom left in photo) ends at the intersection where you then have to either ride on the sidewalk or join traffic which is unaccustomed to bicycles.

I've commuted on Bryant for almost two decades, dodging drivers and potholes on what the city called a “bike boulevard” - just sharrows mixed with cars, trucks, and buses. I never saw this many bikes until we got a real all ages and abilities protected bikeway. Safe design changes everything. 😍🚲

I wish there was a measure of average time for ambulances to get to hospital and how much it has improved. There's anecdotal evidences that it has improved but I'd very much like hard data. My hunch is that some lives have been saved but we'll never be able to measure it.

Spotted this morning: guy stopped in the middle of a T intersection blocking the way across to a bike path, on his phone, at a red, decided for some reason to roll forward just as a cyclist was crossing in front of him. I think the cyclist reacted fast enough to slam his hood before getting hit.
