“Great” is pushing it. When I was a kid in the 80s, I thought Trump looked like a skeezball. He definitely set off my “bad man” radar. (And just to both-sides it, I felt the same about Clinton.)

That's why I (an American) only take vacations outside of the U.S. We can actually relax -- no worrying about being shot. It's also nice to not worry about inadvertently supporting a business owned by a Trumper.

Are you following your reps on social media? Just because media isn’t reporting on what Dems are doing doesn’t mean they’re doing nothing. I don’t follow Schumer so I can’t speak to what he’s doing, but my Maryland reps are doing what they can.

That last paragraph says it all: it feels like we are in a country that is very different than everything we have known before. The military being used to police our cities over the objection of their citizens and leaders… is a bridge too far.

I've heard A-G's wife explain that he wasn't abusive, but early in their relationship, after a fight when he'd said some threatening things, she made the report bc she'd been abused in a previous relationship and hadn't reported the early signs, and didn't want to repeat that mistake.

On January 6, Trump said he had no power to call in the National Guard, that only Nancy Pelosi had this power. But now that homeless people in downtown DC are offending his "aesthetic" preferences, he magically has the power.

Everyone who has the means to do so needs to rise up and defend the people who are currently in Trump's crosshairs. I don't expect the people who already have a target on their back to jump into the fray.

It's the people in wealthy DC neighborhoods, plus Arlington, McLean, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, etc. who should be protesting on DC's behalf.
I agree that we need a general strike in the U.S., but you're asking an unreasonable sacrifice of the people in the neighborhoods that are Trump's target: Columbia Hts, N. Capitol, Ledroit Park, Ward 8, etc...people who are barely scraping by cannot miss work, they have to pay the rent.

Reminder: Tariffs aren't paid by other countries, no matter what Trump says. A tariff is an import tax, raising the price of almost everything we buy. Tariffs are also regressive — taking a higher percentage out of the paychecks of working people than out of the wealthy.
