I had a similar experience to this too, though I feel like my issues with it stemmed from neurodivergence. Some of the things I felt were hard for my brain to really understand, if that makes sense! It's still a process, but it's definitely hard work that pays off!

I could probably send it off to a data recovery specialist, but at that pointβit's memes I made and it's memes I can remake again. It's not the end of the world and honestly will probably cost more than the drive is actually worth, especially if nothing can be recovered.
The saving grace was that because I built my new PC, all of the super important data (sigils, digital grimoires, etc) are all backed up. The most I lost was memes. I'm working to upload those things to cloud services I trust because at this point I can't trust Microsoft's enshitification practices.
So doing investigation on what potentially crashed my PCβit seems highly likely that it was due to a Windows Update. Apparently upgrading it to Windows 11 WITH that particular update is what took it out. I still wasn't able to recover data from it (I took it into the shop) so that data's lost.
Personally, I love it when the little things don't go to plan. Except the candles bit. When I melt them to a surface and they don't wanna stay, I'm just like, "Maaaaaaaaaybe I shouldn't do this today." But then I ignore that voice and I get out the hot glue gun. π
