My advice to new authors is to find your peer group. Established artists are generally very, very busy and can't befriend and mentor every single newcomer they meet. Find your graduating class, as it were.

When I talk about transphobia operating on the logics of abuse scaled up to the communal or societal level, this is what I mean. "Look how much it sucks to be trans, because I made it that way. You should just desist, because if you insist on it, I'm going to have to hurt you so much more."
I'm not kidding. That's the fucking argument. "Kids will be harmed by the policy we rammed through once they grow up, so do conversion therapy on them."
Once they have abused us sufficiently and forced into utter deprivation, cissexist institutions will point at our battered bodies and declare that transition care does not measurably make us happier! Therefore conversion therapy and the discouragement and cessation of all trans care is justified.

I don’t think cis people understand the amount of pressure and coercion trans people face to not come out, to not transition. How swiftly and strictly gender is policed. How something as simple as listening to a song, a line of eyeliner, playing with the wrong toy meets stern correction.
