Think about how the much Bayesian filtering helped in the fight against email spam and then apply it to scam calls.
𖣠ꚳꚳꚲ.ꜱᴛ (@olly.st) reply parent
It will be possible to profile scam callers in aggregate identifying their voice and the kind of things they always say. This is going to make a huge dent in the scam calling industry. As someone who receives a scam call to my mobile at least once a day, I couldn’t be more thrilled. Fuck those guys.
𖣠ꚳꚳꚲ.ꜱᴛ (@olly.st) reply parent
Before they could only go on the number being called from to ID scam calls, which was useless b/c it could be spoofed easily. I can see a future when scam calls are dispatched by the phone without you ever realising that your phone answered, transcribed, and then killed the call, all automatically.
𖣠ꚳꚳꚲ.ꜱᴛ (@olly.st)
The iOS26 Call Screening feature is a game changer in the fight against scam calls. Because ur phone records & transcribes what the caller says, before you answer, which can then be submitted to Apple when reporting a scammer, Apple will be able to recognise a scammer the moment they start speaking.

𖣠ꚳꚳꚲ.ꜱᴛ (@olly.st) reply parent
Does this mean the platform names for the P2D & PT2* are still Diorite & Emery (i.e same as P2 & PT2)? I wondered if they would have different names, given the new internals? Is the platform name based primarily on screen size/type? (I need to update this: developer.rebble.io/guides/tools...)

Release the Epstein Kompromat!
𖣠ꚳꚳꚲ.ꜱᴛ (@olly.st) reply parent
Suggestion: You should include a setting in PebbleOS where can can select the accent colour of your PT2. Watchfaces can then be automatically tailored to match the accent of the watch.
𖣠ꚳꚳꚲ.ꜱᴛ (@olly.st) reply parent
Love the final design. The first version was fine but this one really looks fantastic. I love the accents. It has the playfulness of the original Time coupled with the elegance of the original Time 2. Nice work. So is this new watch the Time 2* or just the Time 2 in the end?
Eric Migicovsky (@ericmigi.com) reposted
We're really proud to show off the final design for Pebble Time 2*! It's quite a bit sleeker and imo more awesome looking than the original design for Core Time 2 we showed off in March. I hope you like it!
𖣠ꚳꚳꚲ.ꜱᴛ (@olly.st) reply parent
No, I realise these are emulators. I was talking about the dimensions - is the original Time screen size bigger than the Pebble 2 screen?
𖣠ꚳꚳꚲ.ꜱᴛ (@olly.st) reply parent
The Time 2* screen definitely looks really great. Finally a Pebble without an enormous bezel, and a lot more screen real estate to work with, and higher DPI too. How does it compare to the screen on the original Time?

I frequently wish that Apple's "Shortcuts" was still called "Workflow". Because Shortcuts can also be keyboard shortcuts, not to mention a literal shortcut to doing something, it makes googling stuff related to them a pain, because it's really hard to find the information you are looking for.

I love everything about the Murderbot adaptation except for the short episode runtimes. Just at the point you are really getting into each episode, it ends. I keep thinking someone should do a fan edit to make the entire series into one long movie. I’d watch that.

People are saying that they don't recognize Pamela Anderson in the new Naked Gun reboot, but that's hardly surprising - when she was last in the public eye, back in her Baywatch days, they were never looking at her face...
𖣠ꚳꚳꚲ.ꜱᴛ (@olly.st)
The reason people don't recognize Pamela Anderson in the new Naked Gun reboot is because, back in the 90s, when she was last in the public eye, they never looked at her face.

Pebble Watches did way less than my Apple Watch but most of the Apple Watch features I never use. Pebbles did a few things brilliantly, better than any other smartwatch. I can’t wait to wear one again.
𖣠ꚳꚳꚲ.ꜱᴛ (@olly.st) reply parent
Thanks for bringing these watches back from the dead. I’m really excited to finally get the PT2, 10 years later, something I never imagined would happen. Of all the tech products that never materialized, it was the one I was still sad about many years later.
𖣠ꚳꚳꚲ.ꜱᴛ (@olly.st) reply parent
I don’t know much about the MIP displays used in some Garmin watches and have not actually seen one in person. Are they any better? Did you consider them?
𖣠ꚳꚳꚲ.ꜱᴛ (@olly.st) reply parent
It’s an acceptable compromise for the long battery life but I had hoped that the color memory LCD tech had improved in the last decade. I guess it hasn’t since it is the same display being used in the PT2* a decade later. I recall it looked great in direct sun but less good when using the backlight.
𖣠ꚳꚳꚲ.ꜱᴛ (@olly.st) reply parent
Thanks. The overall bigger display is obviously a huge improvement and it’s great to know that the display is also a bit sharper. I can only assume that the colors are still slightly washed out like on the original Pebble Time?
𖣠ꚳꚳꚲ.ꜱᴛ (@olly.st) reply parent
It is also about the fact that developers are much more likely to make use of the feature if it is available on all the lineup of new Pebble watches.
𖣠ꚳꚳꚲ.ꜱᴛ (@olly.st)
So we just keep talking about Epstein, right?

I am really not much of a football fan, but it’s really beautiful how the Lionesses have now shown the English men’s team how it’s fucking done. Twice. It’s a really impressive achievement. I guess they should have let women play at this level year’s ago. Football would have come home a lot sooner!
𖣠ꚳꚳꚲ.ꜱᴛ (@olly.st)
@ericmigi.com Question: does the display on the Pebble Time 2* have more more pixel density (DPI) than on the the original Pebble Time?
𖣠ꚳꚳꚲ.ꜱᴛ (@olly.st) reply parent
I can’t wait to finally get the Pebble Time 2*. I already have an Oura ring which is a great health tracker with 10 day battery life. I think the Pebble Time 2 will be a great compliment to to it.

I owned every Pebble watch they ever made. I loved them. When they shutdown, I switched to Apple Watch, but there’s so much that I miss about Pebble - navigate with buttons, hackable, over 10 days battery, quirky OS with lots of personality. Apple Watches do a lot but most features u never use.
