On the other hand, if we all did a moral audit of all the apps we use, how clean would any of us be? I use WhatsApp every day, but Meta is 100x worse than Substack. There are loads of "goodies" that remain on Twitter simply because it still has a wide reach. It's all very frustrating
On the other hand, I don't charge for subscriptions, so they're not making any money from me (directly). It's probably a poor excuse, but I wouldn't say I'm actively "supporting" Substack
I mean, it's on there, but I'm barely using it. I did look at alternatives, but they were all paid-for at the scale I needed. I have considered migrating over to other platforms (or self-hosting), but everything costs money & I write so infrequently that it's just not made it to the top of the list

Regarding "X", I'd say it's still a good place to follow indie hackers & tech personalities, but the old Product Twitter feels like it's gone & not coming back. LinkedIn is obviously LinkedIn - it is what it is, but it's not the same. I get most of my product fun from WhatsApp groups these days.
Tbh, I haven't really found much of a PM community here - there are definitely individuals around, but I don't really see the discussions going on like we used to on Product Twitter, which I still miss a lot! (Or maybe I'm not getting invited either)

I generally advise not looking like you've not done your homework. It's fair enough to canvass leaders beforehand, but you still need to show you've done your part IMO
Leaving blank goes one of a few ways 1) You spend thoughtful time working on it together 2) You spend way too long getting into the weeds 3) You get shouted at for bringing incomplete information / not doing your homework 4) You just get told "LGTM" and made to do it
