LTR guys who want to open it up mistake their girl telling them how handsome they are every day as them ACTUALLY being good looking and not "you're handsome to me" which is what she's really saying

That's where I'm at. If this was a service that ran on a couple big EC2 instances, man, that's great! If this is a thing that's making us question if we'll have clean drinking water or rolling blackouts while directly putting tens of thousands of Microsoft employees out of work. Man, that sucks!

He just watched that scene from The Wire where the community college professor explains to Stringer Bell that a rebranding can make his trash product seem new and better

Campbell getting so hype in that tunnel after he was drafted still gives me chills. Just an early 20s kid who worked his ass off and now gets to love his dream

To be fair, medical researchers use AI all the time, but the AI they use is nothing like these shitty LLM chatbots

Rand Paul is pretty consistent in this area, which somehow makes it even more infuriating. Like, you need to reconcile that he's not just a self-interested Republican, and he's also still a terrible person
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
Not only did they take it, the Perisan Army was so big that, like... yes it was a road block, but it was a relatively minor one for them

In NY-8? He did pretty badly in that district from what I can see. NY-8 stops just short of Bushwick and Williamsburg where Mamdani really ran up the score, so the only places he won in Jeffries district were in the Bedford area
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
The thing is, they'd rather indulge their persecution fetish than celebrate Mamdani's win
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
They usually pitch community enforcement (like neighborhood watches), which does ignore that agencies like Homeland Security and the FBI exist precisely because organized crime tends to use the fact that communities can't police outside their borders to their advantage

God you people are so fucking exhausting. "Democrats should call for RFK Jr to be fired, but, if they do, I'm still going to complain about them doing the thing I want them to do!" The online left in 2025 is something else
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
Schumer called called for RFK Jr to be fired a week ago, and everyone dragged him for it
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
You're referencing an opinion piece on a blog as proof when you you can watch Al Jazeera's reporting on her calling for a ceasefire is very telling. But I guess I should trust 972mag over Al Jazeera 🙄 share.google/1nR5uLkNYGjO...
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
Harris called for a ceasefire every week on the campaign trail, and even called for one in her DNC acceptance speech. Instagram activists just couldn't be bothered to look it up
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social)
I feel like RFK Jr quit doing heroin and eating roadkill and felt way better, so now he incorrectly assumes all disease is caused by injesting chemicals and eating poorly

I think, at a certain level, they all know Trump is a fucking idiot. Even his supporters think he's am idiot savant at business. So it's fine when an idiot talks like that, but disrespectful when someone mocks him for doing that. Of course, Trump did mock a disabled reporter, so 🤷♂️
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
They did codify it into law. I don't know why you're assuming they didn't

Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
Well, if Democrats didn't give us Medicare in the first place, it wouldn't be such a problem when it's taken away. Boom roasted liberal!
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
You need a majority in the house to pass them, and dems, unfortunately, don't have a majority. Forcing a vote and failing sets back efforts to do it in the future
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
Sony execs just telling themselves that Concord only failed because it was released right after Marvel Rivals and not because it was a Guardians of the Galaxy ripoff and cost $40
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
Not for nothing, but Nixon used to drunkenly call up his generals and tell them to nuke Vietnam, and Henry Kissenger of all people had to tell the generals to ignore the president. Nixon WAS a drug addict himself
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
It's a frustrating thing in modern politics. A disaster hits California, they have to beg for every scrap because Republican lawmakers refuse to help. A disaster hits Florida, they get bailed out because Democrats know it's the right thing to do. Now they may actually have to feel their own cruelty
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
This woman is just trying to sell "holistic oral health solutions" on her website. That alone disqualifies her in my opinion
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
Okay? Is being elected a condition for being a leftist? I thought it was the opposite
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
They were in the early 2000s, and Bernie talked about potentially ending NAFTA on a regular basis during his 2016 run
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
Same people clamoring for dems to do something are giving Booker shit for being "performative." I wish those people would just pick a lane instead of calling Dems names for everything they do
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah... the Bush admin was able to gaslight us into war with Iraq because journalists were too scared to criticize them
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
A union president who endorsed an anti-worker campaign bankrolled by a guy who is trying to develop autonomous semis, which would put everyone in his union out of work. It's fucking bananas
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
Well not with THAT attitude. I believe in you! 💪💪
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
"When they have repeatedly used..." Fixed that for you
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
I mean... what else are they supposed to do? If it's a coup, at a certain point someone's gotta pick up a gun to reject it, and I can't imagine anyone (including Bernie) of doing it. What action is in between the court and armed resistance? Protests are cool, but less effective than court cases

Turns out the egg problem wasn't Biden's fault. Who could have guessed?

Best quote I ever heard about him was, "Trump looks like the bad guy in a movie about a basketball playing dog."

One of my favorites is that HSI hates being a part of ICE (they've lobbied congress a number of times to get moved), and immediately on Nov 3rd, they all removed the .ice from their emails because, well, *gestures wildly*
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
I've heard people say things like, "Call quorum votes. One senator could hold up the whole process!" If one senator could hold up the whole process, do we believe that Rand Paul wouldn't have done it?

It's probably someone goes on disability, goes back to work, goes back on disability, goes back to work, finally retires, but they keep the old entries around for auditing purposes, but his minions are too fucking dumb to try to interpret the data

An under appreciated part of this story is that everyone on the team seems to be someone that shares interests with Musk and he trusts as a result. So... about that 19 year old who's potentially involved in sex crimes (and has no real programming skills re his tweet asking about parsing PDFs)
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
No, but, if your network is set up to access the internet for something like the Treasury, then there are a LOT of people on staff that do. There's likely controls on top of controls, which is why they still needed physical access
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
There's ways to call out the defense budget that don't involve carrying water for the richest man in the world. I love Bernie, but he played himself here
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
Interestingly the Bengal Famine of 1770 (caused by EITC) was likely one of the events that led to the American Revolution. The Tea Act kept EITC afloat after the famine nearly destroyed them, but American colonists were scared they'd do the same to us. The Irish Potato Famine kinda proved them right
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
I'm kind of over Bernie's shtick, but those two things can be true. Biden can be great on working class issues while, at the same time, Pelosi can argue for Congress being able to day trade like it isn't naked corruption

The unabomber also felt that having leisure time to pursue hobbies was an evil of the modern world, so... broken clock vibes
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
Exactly. People like Cuban recognize that they're good at sales and listen to people with other expertise (even if they do override them time to time). Musk just assumes he's the smartest person in the world and knows everything
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
Cuban's got that annoying libertarian streak in him, but, like, he seems okay. There's no ethical billionaires, but Cuban seems like he's one of the least awful of them because at least he gets it on the social issues and doesn't lobby to end social security
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
That's accurate, but, I mean, pre-Musk Twitter was 15 years old and very entrenched. Bluesky is, what, 1.5 years? Jack should realize that takes time
Orwell Whatever (@orwellwhatever.bsky.social) reply parent
Not quite. All signs point to those people being competent (or knowing what they didn't know) and using their strengths to grow the business. Elon, everyone hated and they tried to force out, but he was the money man. So, instead, they just locked him in an office and told everyone to ignore him

In SW77, Luke sees the charred remains of his adoptive parents still smoldering in the desert heat and is like, "Whelp, sucks to suck I guess lol" Then Obi-Wan, who Luke has known for two days dies, and he's completely emotionally gutted. I love it, but it's tonally all over the place

Marvel lost me when they started giving me homework. I'm fine seeing six Marvel movies per year, but I draw the line when I also have to watch six, poorly made, 10 episode long mini-series to understand what's happening in the newest movie I only kinda want to watch

To be fair, Romney was leading in the polls through the entire summer of 2012, and Obama buried him in a landslide (even Iowa was +3 Obama)
