Moving right is not an effective electoral strategy if your opponents are right wing.
My point is not that No rw policies + no power > rw policies + power I am saying that being more republican does not help you get voters. This is a strategy that is currently very in vogue im europe to "cease the center" and has worked only to move the overton window right with no gains made.

I also disagree that virtue ethics is mpst tied to the self among the big three; it just is most tied to its conceptipn of the self, which is that of character. Kantian deontologists would say they are way more tied to the concept of the self since that is where they get normstivity from
Okay so I think if virtue ethics cant get you a conxeption of the good qua the virtuous man, it's not really virtue ethics classically conceived but just an account of virtues - Kant has that as much as Sidgwick, tht foesnt feel enough for virtue ethics
Seems like this holds for virtue ethics only if the requisit moral progress is made beforehand. I seem to recall a pretty big virtue ethicist who fell into a different but related trap of justifying slavery.
