There are three main guilty parties in Israelâs genocide: The Israeli state, Western governments and Western media outlets. And one day, there will be a reckoning and they will be held to account for the crime they facilitated.
Across the Western world, public opinion is overwhelmingly hostile to Israelâs crimes. That isnât being acted on because the Western media forms a protective shield around Israel, cementing its impunity.
If the Western media has reported this accurately, and treated Palestinians as humans, then Israel would never have got away with any of this. It would have been impossible for Western governments to keep arming and facilitating Israelâs genocide.
We have watched Gaza be wiped from the earth and its people systematically massacred. Israelâs leaders and officials have repeatedly made clear in deranged bloodthirsty statements that it regards the civilian population as legitimate targets. Yet nothing is allowed to stick.
Despite committing every atrocity under the sun, the mainstream Western media narrative has not allowed even one war crime to be officially accepted as sticking to Israel. Despite the overall crime being more documented and confessed to as it happened than any other in history.
If a state hostile to the West was committing even a fraction of these crimes, the media debate would centre on what must be done to stop them - including military action. Instead Israelâs atrocities are buried, whitewashed or ignored altogether.
Every day, Israel deliberately massacres unarmed civilians it has deliberately starved. How is this possible? Because instead of framing Israelâs atrocities as obscene outrages demanding urgent action, the Western media has normalised Israelâs atrocities.
We need an alternative, and fast.
