Looks like I'm gonna have to replace it, cuz it's likely a fault with the scan bar... This absolutely sucks because, 1: This was a gift and 2: I don't have 200 bucks to throw down for another one. Not to mention secret number 3 of: will this happen again???

I'd taken a year-long break due to technical issues and IRL stresses and events. I don't plan on committing myself to a schedule per-se, but I do want to try to get these all scanned and uploaded within the next couple years or so.
One question I've gotten a coupe times is "will I scan (x) Gundam series?" To all of it, yes, if it's on LaserDisc, I will scan it. I've obtained every series released on the format, and most editions (sans one variant of box sets), and will—over time—cover them all. From First Gundam to Turn-A.

It's an EPSON WorkForce WF-7820 with a ledger-sized scan bed. I use a lot of digital tools for the stitching/editing/cleanup, but this saves me a lot of the cleanup my last smaller scanner left for me (As much as I still love my retired V36).

Watching it with my wife now, I think I get his character much more and I'm actually starting to like and understand his point of view, as well as his role in the story much more. The whole thing is far messier than First Gundam, but that seems to make it feel much more real and grounded.
I think this current rewatch of Zeta is the one finally getting me on board with it. Admittedly, my first watch in 2005 left me *HATING* Kamille and kinda writing off the show as "overrated," though that harshness came down a bit after my second watch around 2016.

It's called Fated Sword Dual Balance. It's currently a 5 volume light novel series, though with as much as I'm expaning it, I'm not sure if that number will increase or if they'll just be thicker volumes lol
I had "finished" versions a few years ago, but started a major revision process last year that went on hiatus due to [gestures broadly]. I tried doing publishing via Lulu, and while they seem reliable, their offerings leave something to be desired.

Oh, well there I agree, on paper, they should be the best option, but their makes are typically too cheap compared to a simple amaray or a digipaks. (The Godzilla Minus One set is amazing, and I will take no further questions on my digipak preference lol)
I have more than a few steelbooks where they literally stack the discs in one or to slots rather than add the clear pages, and the center spokes are a nightmare to get the discs off of. Add in easy scratching surfaces just from general shelf use, and they equal the worst of the main options for me.
I'm all for digipaks with a nice slipcover, myself, but I agree, Steelbooks are awful.
This would have been my last import, but I guess Amazon can't do those now. Makes sense given... *gestures broadly* But still.

Admittedly it's not perfect, but I also don't think it needs to be. These are strictly for archival purposes, I don't need to get them "print-ready" like my mind keeps convincing me should be the case.
These stunlocked me out of scanning any more LD jackets simply because I was trying to wrap my head around how I was going to get the whole image. Admittedly for most of my LD jackets, I'd recreate the spine from matching assets, but thee didn't allow that. Thankfully, I finally figured it out...
I'm just saying, it's okay to call them 0080 and 0083.
I will say this big scanner does make scanning LD jackets and liner notes easier. But boy, it is still physically taxing to have to lay 4 heavy tomes on each of a 32-page booklet to keep it flat and not shifting...

I kinda hope they someday do a 2.0 of the Perfect Works just to update it with all the artwork, on top of better printing quality. I like to see them retool the layout to have less overlap in text/images, along without any of that messy toning over sketches...

I replayed it a couple weeks ago for the first time in a decade or better, and I honestly re-adapted pretty fast to its movement. It's a little clunky, but I don't think the game asks for more than they can give.
