Even the Minifig version is just, "Outside of a Nike Store, I don't know who'd own this." It's objectively an interesting set, but I just don't know who would look at this set and say, "Yes, I'd like this in my home." Maybe a sneakerhead and lego enthusiast? I don't know the overlap.

It’s interesting when the exaggeration of pornography reaches the inflection point to where normal people no longer recognize it as porn. I understand that the woman with boobs as large as a building is meant to be “hot” but frankly, it just looks like hot air balloons taped to someone’s chest.

And this happens OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER again. And every time, SOMEONE figures out a way to break into any backdoor that's made, and every time, the authorities are SHOCKED that hackers are able to dedicate massive resources at massive fucking targets.
peppermintRer (@peppermintrer.bsky.social) reply parent
The only reason there are ANY secure communications in the USA is because Signal (Among other apps/orgs) refused to share encryption details and create a backdoor. The US government, despite pissing and moaning that Signal didn't make a backdoor, now relies on it for secure communications.

peppermintRer (@peppermintrer.bsky.social)
I think guns do have certain aesthetic qualities which make them especially appealing. They're pricey, but not unobtainably so. Differing functonalities and form factors mean diversity in appearance. There's the inherent element of danger, which, I'll admit, is kinda hot.

There is (thankfully) an overabundance of caution when it comes to food labeling (especially with heavy metals). So, maybe don’t eat potentially contaminated foods all day every day. But “as a treat” you’re typically fine. If it was even slightly dangerous it’d be pulled from the shelves.
peppermintRer (@peppermintrer.bsky.social) reply parent
Like, yeah you MIGHT (not even certainly) have 6 parts per billion of lead, but you can actually tank like 2-3 nanograms per day without noticeable harm. Living near an airport likely exposes you more than whatever food you’re eating.
peppermintRer (@peppermintrer.bsky.social)
Okay, so the bad news is, yes there might be a little bit of lead in it. But the good news is, the detection levels are typically so astronomically low that, while not “safe” (NO lead is safe) it’s more likely than not such a small amount won’t have long term health effects.

People trust the USD because they believe that, by and large, bankers will try to balance economic policy for their own benefit. Which MOSTLY aligns with the public good. The 2008 bailouts were what happens when their goals and the public good are NOT aligned.
peppermintRer (@peppermintrer.bsky.social)
It’s rather concerning that private interests are in control of our banking sector and fiscal policies. But, the relative independence of some of the worst people you can imagine attempting to maximize value for their own companies does lead to a lot of external trust for the USD.
