On #LaborDay, we recognize the workers who make so much of our everyday lives possible. And every day, we should have American workers' back by supporting their organized efforts to secure higher wages, good benefits, and safe & dignified workplaces.
When I reported for duty at Naval Station Great Lakes, I never imagined that some day a US President would seek to use it as a base for surveillance and enforcement activity on American soil. Our military was not set up to cater to the whims of a would-be American dictator.
Praying for of all those affected by today’s horrific shooting in Minnesota, injuring and killing innocent young people who were simply starting their school year. We are all too accustomed to awful news like this, but must never accept such suffering and loss as normal.
I talked with a doctor in rural Wisconsin about what she wished elected officials in Washington understood about the health care system. Her answer is important for every American to hear:
Truly being “pro-family” means ensuring access and cost of care - including IVF - never stands in the way of someone choosing to start or grow their family. Trump breaking his promise about something as important as this might not be surprising, but it is cruel.
The core of our message should be about everyday life in America, and how much better it could be - with different leadership and different policies.
No, JD, belonging in America does not depend on how many generations of your family have lived here. The values of this country matter - deeply - to who we are and what it means to be American.
Clearly this is not about making DC, or any of us, safer.
Hearing statistics about Trump’s budget doesn’t tell the full story. It’s about the real lives that feel the consequences of it. Watch my full conversation with Dr. Jill, a health care provider in rural Wisconsin, about what she’s already seeing in her community.
These Americans served with honor for more than a decade. Put their lives on the line. Trump fired them, just for being who they are-and now is denying retirement benefits our nation promised them for their service. Treating troops this way is dishonorable, unfair, & harmful to national security.

The President sees a bad jobs report, and responds by getting rid of the person in charge of the statistics. This is how America becomes a third-rate country.
Today's jobs report shows 24,000 factory jobs lost in the past three months. Trump’s first term brought a manufacturing recession. Now his reckless tariffs are making Americans worse off, again.
Think about what the GOP is revealing with their attempt to suddenly change the Congressional maps: they know their agenda is so unpopular that they're going to lose unless something changes. Of course, what they should be changing is their policies, not the maps.
Sixty years ago today, Medicare and Medicaid were signed into law - securing health care for millions and saving countless lives. As GOP politicians try to tear them down, it's up to us to protect and expand these programs for Americans who rely on them today and for future generations.

Early this morning, House Republicans passed Trump's "big, beautiful" budget bill to kick millions of Americans off Medicaid and fund tax cuts for billionaires and big corporations - but not before they snuck in even more changes that will make life harder for the most vulnerable Americans.
Outraged and heartbroken by the news of two young people killed last night in DC in a targeted act of antisemitic violence. This is the opposite of advancing justice and peace - it only furthers the violence, pain, and loss - and such hatred must be firmly rejected by all.
We should be investing in rural communities and making them better places to build a life & raise a family - not shutting down rural hospitals by choking off their funding. Saving rural hospitals is one more reason to call your Representative and speak out against this GOP attempt to cut Medicaid.

Donald Trump is the most unpopular 100-day-mark president in modern American history.
This isn't hypothetical. The coming days are bringing higher prices and disrupted supply chains, this time not because of a pandemic or a war, but self-inflicted by our country's government under this president.
100 days into this presidency, Americans are paying the price - higher prices, crashing retirement accounts, and broken promises. But the American people are turning, thanks to your voices. Keep it up. It's up to us to demand something better.

Today House Republicans, cheered on by the richest person on Earth, passed a budget framework that will cut support for the poorest people in our country. All while cutting taxes for corporations and the wealthy, and massively increasing the deficit.
If you're a billionaire, then you'll barely notice a few thousand dollars a year in higher prices at the store from these Trump tariffs - plus you can count on him to get you another big tax break for the wealthy. But for everyone else, this is a big deal, and a bad one.
