Ireland suffered in the run up to 2008 (cheap money resulted in half built houses). Ireland is a very fragmented societal island, Cork v Dub have very different ideas of development. I do wonder if both have reflected on style of negotiations. It seemed adversarial (no 'wiggle room') from the EU and completely shoddy from the UK. I think the UK was nuts to leave when it had all the right levers to control the issues but wouldn't use them.

Private equity, as a true investment engine, is fine, but it seems these highly leveraged buyouts are the issue. Just like mortgages, debt used in any buyout should be limited to a certain multiple of investment (3x) or a percentage (30%).

My youngest is trying his best to report every ad he gets served with this type of content, he's not even teenager. Meta has a serious problem with their entire stable, VR games are riddled with people shouting racial slurs who complain when they get kicked so "moderators" get banned for days.

Slovenia was under Tito, so it was a different kind of Communism than the Russian centric version. Countries that had firm anti-Russian/regime laws post independence / revolution have done better than those (Latvia) who tried to be inclusive and fair-minded.

Latvia does the same and has another one, especially for children. youtu.be/WZtG3fg0YEA?... 4% of the population take part, equivalent of 3.2m Germans. Competition is fierce to be selected, same for children. 40k singers and dancers. Russia couldn't surpress this identity during the occupation.
