Very well written piece you did here. I'm not an expert, but I understand climate change on at least a rudimentary level. The absolute vastness of the Earth's climate is what many ppl don't/refuse to take into account. I have a very rough analogy that kind of explains it, for ppl I talk to about it.

Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
The fundamental misunderstanding here is this: **You don't get excluded from the conversation because you deserve it. You need to deserve to be included in the conversation.** Learn the difference, kids.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
People who don't sit the table for grown ups, are not allowed to make decisions on behalf of the rest of the world. If somebody calls themselves president of some country? We don't care one bit. Good luck with your personality cult.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
Right-wing talking heads ARE BEING EXCLUDED from the conversation. This is a fact. Why? Because they don't base their opinion on facts, but on propaganda. People are not entitled to participate in the conversation. It has to be deserved. Or, you don't get to run the world.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
People who feel entitled to their opinion about climate science, do not deserve to participate in the conversation. To make it absolute clear: These people are not allowed to participate in the conversation. When they complain about being excluded? YES. THAT'S THE POINT. Just follow the rules.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
We don't care the slightest when somebody gets offended by this. Lots of people get angry when they feel treated like kids. Specially kids. When people don't understand this, they get treated like kids, whether they get offended or not.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
In any conversation about anything important, there is a table for grown ups and a table for kids. People who don't demonstrate that they deserve a seat at the table for grown ups, get put at the kids table. What is the criteria? Opinion has to be informed by facts.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
It is OK to not be an expert. What is not OK, is to claim that opinion based on propaganda should be respected equally to opinion based on facts. We are just following the rules. Your imaginary friend is not entitled to debating climate science either.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
People who struggle visualizing in their head the relation between Laplace polynomials and climate models, are simply not smart enough to deserve a seat at the table for grown ups. It is OK to not have this ability. However, nobody are entitled to a seat at the table for grown ups.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
A person who has trouble understanding these things, is not capable of evaluating climate science as a field. We know climate models have limits, but we also know something how to tell models apart. Opinion about climate science not based on these facts: JUST SHUT UP!
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
Simple models of the climate are useful, as long as you don't use them to try get data which require more complexity than the model and present. Energy equilibrium of Earth is one of the simplest models, but it is only useful if you know how energy works in physics.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
We can tell how accurately any model can be *in theory*, if it was optimized, of how well it predicts the climate relative to some other model. The model with more complex Laplace polynomials will be more accurate if both were tuned as accurately as you can get them.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
Understanding how Laplace polynomials are used in climate models, is very important precisely because polynomials, while presenting a continuous function, can only encode limited amount of information. With other words, we can measure complexity of the model from the Laplace polynomials.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
At this point in the conversation, right-wing talking heads want to steer away from technical topics because they know that they are moving into a domain of expertise where they are not experienced. Right-wing talking heads only know how to manipulate people. They don't have any real experience.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
Most people don't need to know in detail what a Laplace polynomial is, but understanding how it is used is very important to have a good debate about climate science. You see, climate science can't model all the physics. They select one aspect that gives good predictability for data they want.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social)
Laplace polynomials are used in hydrodynamics to describe fluid motion and behavior under various conditions. They are often related to solutions of Laplace's equation, which helps in analyzing fluid flow and potential fields in fluid dynamics. This is very important knowledge.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
When somebody doesn't understand this, they get removed from the conversation, regardless of which title or background they have. In order to run the world, opinion has to be informed by facts. Otherwise, the seat is at the kids table. These are the rules. Decides by whom? Those who run the world.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
This is why there is a kids table. At the kids table, you can base your opinion on anything your want and reserve a seat to your imaginary friend. However, to deserve a spot on the table for grown ups, opinion must be based on facts. People need to demonstrate that they understand this.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
Some people don't understand why they are removed from the conversation and treated like kids. They think that it is due to their religion or political affiliation. These people need to learn that if your opinion is not based on facts, then they do not deserve to participate in the conversation.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
These are the rules. This is how the world works. Opinion based on religious beliefs are not based on facts. Credibility does not come from religion, but the ability to form opinion based on facts. When people don't understand this, they get put at the kids table.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
Opinion has to be informed by facts. People who don't understand this get put at the kids table. These people don't deserve to participate in the conversation. Repeating talking points from propaganda is not forming an opinion based on facts.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
When people want to debate economics and do not have a background in economics, game theory, investment strategies, trade, standardization and law: SHUT UP! These people are not acting like grown ups. They get put at the kids table.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
Opinion has to be informed by facts. If it doesn't, then you are not acting like an adult and you get put at the kids table. These people don't deserve participating in the conversation. This is how the world works. If you don't understand it, then you get put at the kids table.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
When people want to debate climate change without having any experience from physics, quantum chemistry or computer modeling (e.g. they don't know what hydrodynamics or Laplace polynomial means): SHUT UP! These people are not acting like grown ups. They get put at the kids table.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
If grown ups act like kids, then they get put at the kids table. These are the rules. Why? We decide them. It's really that simple. If you don't base your opinion on facts but on propaganda, then you get put at the kids table. This is just how the world works.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social)
Just block people who feel that they are entitled to your attention and time. A lot of people want to pretend they are running the world (they are not) but get pissed off by being excluded from the conversation. They claim it is a "radical left" that cancels them. We run the world.

You can have a million times increase in complexity in systems just in a few generations. Each part of the system changes little, but the overall complexity increases extremely fast. We should study mathematical limits of how fast systems can increase in complexity to build a galactic civilization.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
Both the natural world and civilizations can increase incredibly fast in complexity, without any single factor being easy to explain this increase. There can be combinations of factors that contribute to the increase of complexity. These combinations can give very visible results.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
When you get sudden hyper-connectivity from all sides in parallel in complex systems, this is what we Path Semanticists call a "Seshatic language bias". For example, multiple people inventing calculus simultaneously without knowing about each other. They are exposed to similar ideas.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
Since we are constructing these primes with the primbix formula, it is not possible to add that many layers before you go over 11 quadrillion. This means, there is some sort of hyper-connectivity going on. Prime numbers can behave weirdly when you get to larger numbers.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
If you remove `17` from the set of leaf primes, then the number drops from from 1.116 billion to 5 825. So, there is an incredible increase in complexity with a very sharp takeoff. This can teach us about behavior of some complex systems that suddenly increase in complexity.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
I've running a program that counts these primes for days now. It's over 1.166 billion. With other words, 94592x increase in complexity. It's a "Cambrian explosion" between 1.7 to 11 quadrillion.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social)
There are 11 798 possible primes you can construct using the primbix formula `1 + 2 * r * s` where `r, s` are primes from the set `2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 17` up to 1 771 883 742 990 899 (smallest known primbix of level 21). Not that many. Up to 11 091 321 145 241 003 (level 22), the primes are exploding.

Are there rectangles which there exists no set of open space-filling curves which do not form a tile set where you can construct a closed curve? Naturally, you might share one or more borders with the rectangle, but not all. Which axioms would you choose to prove that you can't share all borders?
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
Can you write an efficient algorithm to find all sub-rectangles of some some space-filling curve which are also space-filling curves? How do you measure length of a space-filling curve? How significant are the shape of corners?
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
Is it possible to deform one space-filling curve into another? What kind of operations do you think are natural for such deformations? What happens when you impose additional constraints on the space-filling curves, e.g. a maximum length of straight lines?
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
If you insert a cut on a closed space-filling curve, then you get a necklace symmetry. Is it natural to consider necklace symmetry in addition to rotation/reflection symmetry for space-filling curves in rectangles? Can you come up with more symmetries to consider?
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social)
How many space-filling curves are there for arbitrary rectangles up to rotation/reflection symmetry? One ambiguity here is whether you should allow closed space-filling curves or whether the end points should be open. In what sense are they open? Do you codify the ends in some particular way?

* your "mystery" is given
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
People use technology that give social power as metaphor for the spiritual, so they can control others using language. They build their stories around this language and design it such that people get drawn in. They have to figure out the "mystery". You know.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
Prior to the moment of using fire, people might have thought of stone axes as the metaphor for their soul. Perhaps their "souls" where sharp, cutting through the bullshit, had to be made and shaped from young age and when you got old, became fragile, cracking in the skin.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
Since we learned to use fire, humans have told stories around the campfire to each other. The fire became a symbol of the human soul, because they started to see themselves as alive in the sense that living things are like lights in darkness. Most of the world wasn't. Fire changed how we think.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
A "mystery" is often spoken about metaphorically as a candle shining in the darkness. Sometimes, a candle in the darkness can burn down a whole forest. It starts like "this stuff is good" and it ends like "my brother, my sister and my mum died in that war".
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
People stop caring, because they get used to that those people who are still trying to convey facts, are losers in social language games. It's a kind of collapse in regarding truth of high value. Usually, it ends up in war, people get killed, and society resets. They say "never again".
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
What happens when people are spreading lies massively, is that people experience that they are losing power socially, so they jump on the latest trends to gain back the loss. Which causes the lies to spread faster and further. It's like a burning forest, but mentally. Nobody cares anymore.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
When people learn that they can lie and get other people to believe their lies, they spiral away from seeking out a "mystery" to just spreading their lies as much as possible, because the more people use the same characters, the easier it is for them to control people. That's why it is dangerous.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
When enough people start believing this stuff is real, some people will not care whether it's real or not, they just care about the power they can get. This is how you get from "mystery" to fascism. Fascists know they are lying. They know. They enjoy it. It's power for them. It's addictive.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
It always starts with "mystery". People want to know more about this or that, so they can leverage it socially to get more power over people. People do this unconsciously. People stop feeling that this is just entertainment or fun. It gets real and they start believing their own made up stories.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
A made up character can make people believe have said prophesies that a nuclear war is going to happen. Imagine time travel once century in the future, and a cult believes Dracula wants them to start a nuclear war. That's what you get when people don't understand how humans behave in general.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
When people try to make their made up characters more historical in the particular way that THEY believe (duh!) how it happened, then they start fighting over territories and laws. That's a sign that it is going out of control. When people threaten nuclear wars over it, this is way out of control.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
Why do people do this? Because when you are not allowed to criticize something socially, this automatically develops into an extreme cult, where people's loyalty is signalled by having "faith" in that character or not. Of course it's just made up. It's totally stupid.
Piston Developers πΏπ₯€ (@pistondeveloper.bsky.social) reply parent
While few people believe Dracula is a "real vampire" today, you can't just talk down on Dracula, because this will make people hate you. In one century, Dracula might be a savior figure of some religion. Everyone who casts doubt on it in that religion get executed.
