"But they set this up with previous expedition lore and the painters/writers thing!" Counterpoint: narratives in games/lit are under no obligation to spoonfeed the entirety of a world and furthermore having unexplained mysteries is Straight Up Cool And Fun

There's a conversation to be had re: the intersection of milking for capital (e.g. Persona 5, TLOU) and the love creators develop for their works, but I never see it happening. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places. Gives me a weird feeling, is all. Sequel culture is a little out of control imo

really unique little game. back when I did it on the show, my then-full-time co-host hated the game, and I liked it a lot. Felt like something you'd really appreciate if you grew up in the 90s wishing you had The Crow on DVD...like I did, haha.

There's a popular take going around on TikTok and online in general that 96 Quite Bitter Beings (CKY) is a mediocre song with a great intro riff. I just don't hear it. I think that song is perfect for what it is. The variation in tempo and in how Deron sings is great.

Brother, you already *were* a ghost. Up there, screaming — along with all of them. Scaring each other. Haunting each other. It's the living who are ghosts. The dead are silent. They don't rattle windows or write letters in blood. The living do. Leave them behind. Rest.

I'm saying outrage merchants don't do art criticism, that meaningful criticism has been defunded and marginalized across pretty much every artform by attacks on publications and academia alike, and the people/platforms driving the biggest conversations now do not hold the medium's interests at heart
Chris Franklin (@errant-signal.com) reposted
I can't escape the conclusion that we've ceded the entire public discourse about art to outrage merchants and algorithms and this is the result. Massive audiences addicted to passively consuming frictionless media while eagerly waiting to be told which title it's en vogue to hate next.

I'm not immune to this either, by sheer exposure to it. I grew up in the late 90s/early 2000s and exist currently (as far as I know). It's everywhere. But it's something I make conscious efforts to discard from myself. It's poisonous.
