Yglesias's whole turn to popularism always strikes me as odd. I liked some of the stuff he used to write for Slate/Vox (stuff like Ivies are bad and should be made public, there should be deliberate effort to fight segregation of public schools, YIMBYism etc), but they were decidedly unpopular!

It's only "unhackable" in the sense that it relies majority consensus to determine "truth" instead of a central "trusted" source. If someone (ie a hacker, billionaire, etc) controls a majority (however that's determined, it varies by implementation) then they can decide what the canonical chain is
