I bought anything and everything until the curse of teenage cool hit at about 14. Cue 5 years of very rigid tastes.

Just logged off. Think I’ll save it for another time and listen to Guardian Football Weekly instead.

Mine is long gone. Should I be giving it a listen?
pmpb166.bsky.social (@pmpb166.bsky.social)
Really enjoying this. Only listened initially as he’s playing with Jane Weaver at the end of the month. Toes have been tapped and shoulders occasionally dipped.

Hurry up Harry still makes me smile. Bought the “That’s Life” album when it came out. Didn’t realise at the time they were attempting a Who style concept album.

Hmm, also bought that Sham 69 abomination.

Surprisingly, I bought ten of those. Already addicted at 13. Who’d have thought a 13 year old would have fallen for the charms of The Crusaders but I loved and still love that song.

Sorry to hear, Steve. They become family. Lost two cats (siblings) in 2016 within seven months of each other and the one left behind for those seven months was bereft.

Once owned it on vinyl but haven’t heard it in years so nothing to add apart from saying the two singles are great mid period Wire

Echo your last paragraph. Have to use my local NHS hospital on a bi-monthly basis and they are never anything but kind, warm and brilliant at their job. And that’s before I begin to think how much my care would cost otherwise. NHS, WE LOVE YOU.

There is a podcast with two gentleman music journalists of a certain vintage who can be illuminating and amusing when talking about the 60’s through to the 90’s. Their hot takes on Charli XCX and Taylor Swift usually begin with the phrase ”Here’s the thing about…” and are invariably clueless.

Strong recommend. I have seen and heard Mr Callahan and Mr Garratt perform this year and have also been to JT Soar which is run by good folks. The two combined will make for a wonderful evening. Ps. Bring earbuds. It will be loud.

29 August 1993. Only saw New Order’s encore as was watching the magnificent Big Star headline the tent. Other highlights were Grant Lee Buffalo, The Breeders, The Boo Radleys and The Lemonheads. Saw the latter this week and wished I’d settled for the memory of this day in 1993.

This is the one I heard first aged 12, owned by a friend’s older brother. Found it all a bit odd at that age although remember liking the tune to “Outdoor Miner’ and thinking “I Am The Fly” was funny. Now? Probably their best. Agree on “Used To” and “Another The Letter” is appealingly bonkers.
