They are pumping fresh water out of the natural aquifers and paving over the land that helped to sustain them. Insufficient storm drainage, built-up coastal areas on unstable soil, terrible and corrupt state government doing nothing to help the people. Total shit-show.
Do you remember that condo that imploded? That one kept me up all night. Turns out the issue was known, was a safety hazard for sure, and the condo board couldn't or wouldn't pay to fix it. Terribly lax and unenforced building codes.
The Florida man thing started because of their "Sunshine" law, meaning everything is made public. Theoretically, of course. Doesn't apply to the rich or well-connected. In my US travels, it seems like stupidity seems to happen most often near the water. Sad, because that's where I want to be!
Seems like he also wins court cases by threatening. Threatens your finances because he has deeper pockets, or your livelihood or your merger or whatever. If someone doesn't fold and settle, do any of the cases make it to discovery?

Maybe so. Florida seems like a jumping point for what's been happening nationwide since the advent of the Tea Party. DeSantis was one of the originals when he was in the House, and Trump's lending his influence as well. Florida's not known for a real high level of intelligence.
Some good news on that front. There's a large PAC interested in trying to turn the state at least purple in the next cycle with a large investment. We'll be doing our part, and we'll see how it goes.

Agreed, and it's another thing the democrats have to consider going forward. Biden was a great supporter of the unions, but who did they endorse? Trump. That's why I think the democrats should nominate a governor next time. Not an elitist and absolutely not Newsom.
But will they change their vote when elections roll around again? Will they blame Trump or buy the party line that it's still somehow the Democrats' fault? Sometimes I think that it will take generations for anything to really change.
I have to think this one over. I both agree and disagree. In my state, we don't have much choice in political parties, but then again, many people don't vote because of that perception. We also don't get much campaign money or good candidates because it's a losing proposition. Hmm.
There were too many unforced errors. The democrats need to avoid making the same mistakes in the future.
And without a social safety net. Republicans made sure that the worst would not happen before the midterms, but red states will be hit the hardest. I agree that money and campaigns need to be more specifically targeted, but what good does that do when so many voters just stay home?
And Republicans took credit for those that did, even if they voted against the funds in the first place. Democrats still seem to believe that their good works will be noticed by the general populace who pay no attention to policy or the bigger picture. Foolish and likely to ruin us all.

You're right. Newsom for Prison 2028 doesn't quite have the same ring to it. If the administration does interfere with elections in 2026 and beyond, relying on democratic leadership isn't very reassuring at the moment.
