🖥️ Have some anti static bags getting here today so i can properly store all these spare parts & index them instead of have them scattered around the room. at that point im gonna build up the new mobo in the case so all i'll need to do is put whatever new parts in next week & im set!
computer update 🖥️ the mobo that was being used is clearly earlier on in SATA taking over, it has 3 IDE ports and 4 SATA ports. The one I'm swapping to has 1 IDE port and 6 SATA ports. There's 2 DVD/CD drives and one 80GB HDD that are SATA only. So either I'm getting adapters or upgrading HDD!

just got an rechargeable air duster so after work im gonna be stepping outside and dusting out tons of electronics we've got around the apartment
learned that the new mobo (last pic) supports the 6000 series core2duo but NOT the 8000 series. there's not too much of a difference between the c2d E8400 i have & the core2quad Q6600 on the mobo, thankfully! So I'll just use the core2quad and keep the e8400 for a later project.

I do now have an LGA775 chip set mobo that while it is too early to be a real good late xp gaming system mobo I could scrounge up a 98 build or whatever earlier I want with this tbh. Need to figure out the parts in here and keep a ledger of parts. And tons of various ram kits!
I've got the old system mostly gutted yesterday. Learned this morning I do need the mobo I bought to use the core2duo, so I'll be swapping that over. Thankfully that gives me an excuse to airdust the system. Now we're just waiting on paycheck for the psu and we're set!!
