As much as I like Dark Souls, I wish that particular aspect hadn't been one of the things it popularized, for that exact reason. Silksong technically allows you to 'bank' rosaries from the start, but it comes at a 25% penalty so it feels wildly discouraged

I believe that's correct on the BHG front! Yeah, Chafee did a number on Amalur's possible long term success. Whole thing was a big trainwreck. ๐ฌ THQ Nordic ending up with the rights to Amalur is a bit of an odd circle that ended up with the Re-Reckoning release, wonder if we'll ever see a sequel.
With all due respect, what I said was in regards to EA/RI's projection, but this is incorrect. THQ was the original publisher, not Epic. 38 acquired BHG when it was shutting down, having them continue their prototype as KoA. But investors weren't leaving, they just never came or were refused by 38 ๐
Oh I really like this idea. I played a ton of the World Tour mode in the PSX version of SFA3 that had some neat upgrading mechanics. But I am aggressively mediocre at fighting games, so a single-player focused one is right up my alley ๐

Gremlins on the Apple IIe I don't know if it was the utter silence for most of it or what, but this was the first video game I ever played as a kid and almost turned me off the whole thing. Freaked me right out at 5 years old (The following year I played Zelda 1 and Mario 2, the rest is history ๐)
I think that's the only case I've seen of everyone being pretty universally pleased (self included) to have lootboxes come back as a thing ๐

Seeing a console cross the $700 mark (PS5 Pro will be $749) is kinda insane. Not unlikely for another wave of increases to be necessary as well in the future with the current policies; next gen is going to end up impossibly expensive in the US at this rate

Played through the campaign near release with a couple friends and we had a great time with it! It was egregiously broken at times, which was a shame, but sometimes that added to its b-movie charm. I think that team just needed to be allowed to work on it for longer and it would have been a success

Poor Redfall, fun idea but unfortunately released in a really rough state. Enjoyed playing through the campaign with friends, but we'd hit several genuinely game-breaking bugs every time we played.

Seemed to be serviceable even on Switch 1 so should theoretically run great on Switch 2 or Steam Deck. What a game though, I haven't played it in years purely because I know I'd continue playing it too much and like to play lots of different things. Hope you enjoy it too!

Through a variety of circumstances DS2 is my most played of all of FromSoft's games. I genuinely like it quite a bit! It has some criticisms but they all do. The only outlier is usually ADP as a very obtuse, but impactful, stat I hope you continue to enjoy it, there's a lot of neat parts!

I always go with "player", feels more all-encompassing much like "user" for non-game software. Gamer has unfortunately gotten rolled into too many bad connotations for me to use that generally
Outriders is such a fantastic game. It somehow managed to have a serious story that was also self-aware corny, and the gameplay was a ton of fun. I'm sad that it was originally labeled as a live service thing because I think that really killed it. It's definitely much more akin to Remnant

Kingdoms of Amalur was a pretty strong recent example of this also. They put out a new IP against Mass Effect 3 and expected it to do millions at launch. It sold and reviewed exceptionally well that year, but it wasn't enough for all the projections and bad spending, so it tanked the studio.

The memo that essentially says, "thanks for carrying us, goodbye" is truly unhinged. You could probably trim 5% of the salaries of the top end and pay all of these people indefinitely. I also can't fathom why anyone would ever consider working at Microsoft or subsidiaries at this point.

I canโt begin to tell you how incredible localization teams are. They donโt โjustโ translate - they rewrite jokes and idioms to recreate the same emotional (or funny) in a different culture and language style, and give invaluable advice on character, regional dialects, and cultural norms

Why not be transparent about it? This reads that you think hiding it was fine because it was inconsequential items. Media only available in 1 language is understandable, poor AI translating sends the message that you don't care about those players. I feel bad for the devs that worked hard on this.

Ok. Gameโs out soon. Long time followers know that that means only one thing: time for a very long thread of the fantastic people behind the cool thing youโre about to play. I know this maybe feels pointed given current discourses, but I swear Iโve been doing it for over a decade.
He didn't care about color, background, heritage, gender, orientation, religion, anything, he just cared if people were nice and doing their best. It's been almost 16 years, but I still miss him and try my best to follow the good things he did. I hope everyone stays safe today, it's too important.
This place sucks. The only miniscule solace I get is that my dad isn't around to see all of this, because the last ~10 years would have killed him. Rarely political and not perfect, but was always gracious for living here to be able to raise up anyone less fortunate than him as a result.
