If you’re a journalist and can’t tell if U.S. democracy is under threat, it’s time to find a new line of work!
If you’re a journalist and can’t tell if U.S. democracy is under threat, it’s time to find a new line of work!
I mean this is kind of the whole thing, innit?
The entire profession has increasingly become populated by people who don't actually want to do journalism
Well, doing a journalism means making judgements about the veracity of right wing positions, which makes them mad, so best not to do it at all.
There's a particular kind of "journalistx that are just hos for power, a lot of them work at every major news outlet that covers politics. If you give them access, they'll wash your lies for you. Ben Smith, Mike Allen, Mark Halperin, Haberman, Jake Tapper, etc. etc
He knows. This is cowardice and obfuscation.
Why are so many journalists like this, it’s like they forgot what news even is
Being obtuse and deferring to power provides access. Challenging power closes doors.
These fart sniffers really do think they're above it all, don't they?
He has. A propagandist for fascists.
People are dunking on this but there are versions of the point that are completely reasonable? Vague "democracy is DYING" really is unhelpful, what's actually valuable are close accounts of specific institutions disintegrating. Shame the follow-ups didn't clarify it.
Yeah that’s also not what Ben Smith does, though. He is breaking meaningful news or giving valuable accounts of specific institutions disintegrating.
Isn’t *
Seems like the story is missing an actor. Trump and the Republican trifecta + SCOTUS are the ones destroying institutions.
what a clown
You just know there were some finger tents flexing as these sage words were spoken.
