Off the top of my head I can only think of one company actually reversing course on a rebrand due to mass backlash like this, and that was Tropicana in 2009.

Still crazy they thought not having an orange on the carton was a good idea. But yeah Cracker Barrel would have paid a design firm big money for the new design so they very likely will stick to their guns

That was more than a rebrand, they also changed the formula/recipe, so kind of a different beast

And even that took 2 months of plummeting sales & stock prices before they reversed course. In sports the San Francisco 49ers announced a change of helmet logos in 1991... that they undid *the next day* due to massive local backlash. All this is to say it does happen, but it's incredibly rare.
