Counterpoint: no, it is not okay to out an LGBTQ+ person.* No, not even people you don't like, or people who are mean, or people who are hypocrites. You have no idea what their deal is, and your judgment is as human as the rest of us. *The sole exception is when its necessary to report a crime.

I'm still mulling over how I want to talk about it—maybe for national coming out day—but I was forced to come out to my parents or be outed. That was the ultimatum: either I do it myself or they'll do it for me. And they told themselves it was for my own good. No outings.
My sister did basically the same to me. And deeply regrets it.

I'm blanking on what I was watching recently but it had two guys who were forced to come out in front of their parents as young teens because of a police investigation into something they didn't do. 😬
(This happened many years ago. I have a fantastic relationship with my folks now.)
