So you think Wired magazine posted the article without doing any fact-checking? If so, I guess they will be getting sued. Did you actually read the article?

Yes, I actually did. And I've spent the past 24 hours deep diving on every aspect of it from 1630 to watching countless videos from the creators themselves explaining everything. I didn't use confirmation bias to just dogpile a group a ppl just trying to make a living as DNC shills....
Like, we get it. Y'all hate Dems and the DNC and they are all a bunch of genocidal maniacs yadda yadda....we. get. it. You want to believe the worst of any hint of alignment. And no, I don't think Wired fact checked very well, why else have they had to update the piece?
"we get it, shut up with your genocide yadda yadda and just get in line, stop asking to be listened to or have any space and just vote blue no matter who or else." well good golly miss molly millions will feel super energized to get out the vote with this vibe
I'm sorry I don't mean to interpolate myself here again, I'm new to bsky etiquette, but I did watch the tiktok video. I fully understand this position. I also think it's v reasonable to fear that chorus wd "bring a heavy editorial hand" if not censor outright. will keep my skepticism & wait on that.
Most importantly tho, we want the same things, & i don't think the DNC strategy of belittling people and lurching right is a winning one. there are ways to have this conversation, but shutting it out completely by saying we don't have time for it is exactly how we got here.
If we wanna build power, silencing dissent is sure a weird way to start. For me anyway this is less about dark money or dirty tricks and more about a democratic party hollow and void of credibility. Stand for something and energize people, or keep losing.
1. This group is not paid for by the Democratic party. 2. Most are just small creators trying to grow their page and be able to afford to spend more time on it. It's literally a training program that pays a stipend funding by a progressive 'dark money' org....
...these creators are making content pushing against the current administration and this hit piece and smear campaign is attempting to silence THEM! Causing harm to dissenting voices. And when people explain and fact check the article y'all play victim like you are the ones being silenced?? Gmab.
Hyperbole like "we get it you think we're all evil and genocidal" is a pretty good example of minimizing and belittling a very large part of the voter base.
Do you have any idea how many times those words have been lobbed at me? Go look in any comment section of left leaning creator who dares support anything Democrat. I'm not just making this shit up out of whole cloth. Literally 20 minutes ago I got this:
Well I'm pretty new here but I already noticed it's not great for bringing people together. Which is why I left all other social media about 5 years ago. I've seen a lot of these kinds of attacks in both directions
It is 100% reasonable to be concerned that this money has strings attached. And that those strings would impose "message discipline" to not talk about Gaza or criticize dem legislators.
Except many of the creators in the program have done both. The ones that don't choose not to. I'm not sure what you aren't understanding. The 1630 fund donates to so many progressive orgs, you think they are putting strings on all of it?
I'm referring to dissent within the party, within the left. And I will still maintain my skepticism about what "training includes" and what kinds of controls come with it, until we see what happens.
I mean, you can literally just ask them, though most have posted videos straight up telling you. Again, most are pretty small creators so it's not hard to simply ask. But would you even believe them since you are already convinced it's nefarious? And I see the dissent on the left going both ways.
And even if the DNC was paying some TikTokers to tow the party line? Oh no, some influencer is praising Corey Booker! You aren't required to watch or give clicks. Our capitol is currently under occupation and I'm supposed to care Dem influencers? Miller's wife has a damn podcast now! Like, wtf?
Again with the hyperbole. You already know what I think, what I'm convinced of. It is reasonable to doubt and mistrust the democratic establishment, whether this is official party or the big donors. How dare I ask right? I need to just take a back seat right?
What a pitch!
I am a Dem. I've voted for Dems since the 1990s. I'm very disappointed with some of them. I'm not alone in that. You seem as defensive as BTC did in his response video.
I'm frustrated. This is all very frustrating. This is long, but an actual really good and fair breakdown and highlights why this is so damn frustrating. www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8BGxnaC/
Do you see this video? It expresses a lot of my opinions on this issue. youtu.be/pqrFwH5CnKs?...
Your video starts with 'I hate liberals'. Did you get anything at all from the video I posted to at least clarify the non-profits? Basically, I gave you a video of someone breaking down the logistics of it all, and your response is another hit piece about Brian from a guy who hates liberals. 🙄
You are doing the same thing dismissing the issues and attacking the messenger. Is that all you listened to? Personally, I don't care what you think about this issue. It's clear you want to believe what you want to believe. That's fine.
Same, girl. I actually know a young college kid in the Chorus program. He's an LGBT+ youth who's been creating advocacy content for years. He's just some small town kid who is getting a stipend to be in this 6 month training program that will help pay tuition and y'all are freaking out. It's weird.
But no, sure, some British communist guy thinks it super bad so I guess we're at an impasse.
😂😂😂
Good use of your time for sure. Fuckin dork
