Good for him! Fishing is a good thing to know how to do and, catch and release is important. Your son will have fun and, he can, if he's lucky, feed the family.👍
He’s so excited to catch something at some point that we can eat for dinner. But I think his favorite part is the anticipation - knowing that anything is possible.
Absolutely, he's learning a new skill. Next stop brain surgery? Maybe growing some food crops then, brain surgery😉😉
Gotta be honest, with this kid, ya never know. He’s way smarter than I’ll ever be and he’s only 13. If they teach it on YouTube and he’s interested in learning it, he’ll know how to do it by the end of the day.

He’s already got that one down - and walking the dog, loading the dishwasher, setting the table, dusting, scooping dog poop, doing his laundry, etc. Dem’s the basics if he wants to stay in the house rent-free. 😉

My grandson started casting as a 5 yr old. He still straps his rods on his back and goes down to the lake on his bike at 17. Once they get the bug …it’s a great hobby. He hates eating them so they all Get tossed back 😂
Because of my microscopic colitis, there are a lot of foods I can no longer eat - but I can still eat fish! So my son is determined to catch something I can eat. I told him that’s awesome, but he has to clean it. 😆

Thank you Ro! He’s so excited now! And I’m happy for him. I think, as the youngest of four kids, it’s hard to find activities he can make his own. This is one his sibs haven’t tried their hands at, so he’s thrilled to find he’s good at it.

He just bought some squid that he’s currently cleaning to use for bait. He convinced my husband to take him fishing this afternoon (my husband doesn’t fish but I think he’s going to have to learn how to do it now 🤣).
I love this!! My kiddos are hooked on fishing, too. He did a great job catching that one!
He’s so happy! He’s even convinced my husband to do a little more fishing tomorrow morning before we leave. When that kid gets interested in something, it becomes an obsession. 😆
