The sad thing is, we learn so much but never learn how to talk. But then in a world full of greed is it sny wonder. Most of us are just trying to survive in our insular bubbles.

We used to talk to strangers. It's called meeting people. I'm 71. Now you live in boxes. No one says hi or good morning to another person walking down a street and complete strangers don't say "hi" back. Nothing to do with greed. Young people are afraid. Americans live in boxes out of fear.
In Europe it's very different. We don't have the fears that seem to absorb the mind. Perhaps not having guns as a problem helps, but we still do talk to each other in the supermarket, on public transport (widely used) and meet up in clubs and pubs. You seem to have lost community in US.
