I have this old roommate friend of mine that I still talk to every once in awhile that purposefully racked up $550k in student loans over the course of approx 18 yrs securing himself three degrees. He never planned on paying any of it back and he hasn't paid a cent. It all just got forgiven!! π

If he has 10 years of public service either with the federal government or with a federal program (Americorps, etc) he could qualify for the public service loan forgiveness program
As someone who is paying full boat for my son at an expensive private school, this is quite annoying. I get some folks need assistance but this loan forgiveness stuff doesnβt address the problem, it exacerbates it - how expensive college is.
I have 3 degrees and over $180K. Forgiveness would be incredible

Oh Iβm not holding my breath. According to NY, ELA isnβt as important as math or science even though we give a state test in 3-8
So fucking fucked. I haven't asked him yet, but I will. He's a really smart dude and I'm wondering if he has any inkling as to why certain people are getting theirs forgiven. I'm going with the fact that it's $550,000. I will report back.
