I wondered this. But I’m increasingly convinced that to these people, it’s neither here nor there. There is no good or evil to them, just power. (Which actually, afaik, sums up the Sith philosophy even more)

I think they also hold a cynical view that everyone is just as selfish and power-hungry as they are, and in the end they’re not worse, they’re just more honest about it. It’s often said with MAGA that every accusation is actually a confession, and I think it’s because they assume everyone’s the same

It’s like a toxic form of empathy. I’ll put myself in someone else’s shoes, but all I can think of is all the evil things I would do in their position, and assume that’s their true intent.
