Okay do y’all want me to just repeat all the news outlets about Taylor Swift’s new ring, or do you want me to explain what it is?
Okay do y’all want me to just repeat all the news outlets about Taylor Swift’s new ring, or do you want me to explain what it is?
Explain
Reddit is full of women who just happened to be looking at that exact cut for the last month and now have to start all over again because it now won’t be unique.
That too. I think everyone should get what they like and to hell with it. My own favorite cut is the briolette, but for a ring I want a five carat Jubilee cut.
Mine is an Emerald cut done in 2008 and it suits me just fine.
There you go. I think everyone should wear what they please and to hell with trends or styles.
Please explain!
Ooh, I would love you to explain it!
Explain please.
Well, mine cuts are interesting because after brilliant cuts were invented in 1919, Old Mine Cuts were generally not done any more, and Swifties are even now going through antique jewel shops like a plague of glitter filled locusts.
My ring is 3 old mine cut diamonds. One from my family, one from hubs’ family, and one hubs bought to match. (I’m a sentimental fool)
Oh, that sounds lovely.
Thank you. I sometimes wish I’d gone with a different style, but that’s not happening now.
Please explain. It looks nice.
Oh, it is nice. I like that it’s antique, too. Used gems are sort of high end recycling. ♻️
Please tell what you see…I love antique jewelry and have never heard of an “old mine brilliant” cut. It looks like a variation of a rectangle cushion cut to me…
Before computerized cutting got invented in maybe the 1970s, every stone was a custom cut, to keep as much of the carat weight. So an Old Mine Cut done on an oval stone would look just like that.
Thank you for explaining what it is, loved the history lesson!
Would love an explanation from you!
Yes, please explain!
please do explain. i know nothing. i eloped in reno, used my ex-boyfriend's celtic knot ring after browsing pawn shops. my ring now is my mother's ring, stone taken from her grandmother's ring and all i know is "european cut" and a heirloom.
Nice. My story's about the same but it was the Justice of the Peace in VA and a plain gold band I got for fifty bucks until I inherited my grandmother's ring. I keep meaning to get a custom one made with a moissanite solitaire and eternity band. But there's always something else to spend money on.
